Anyone here with a balanced translocation?

Just had miscarriage number 8 (or 9, I can't remember these days) yesterday due to this.

It was the first time I've ever had medical management and it was absolutely horrible. I had vomitting and diarrhea and such bad stomach cramps. I've had to be booked in for surgery this week as I haven't yet passed the pregnancy.

Does anyone else here have a balanced translocation? I feel so alone. I know a lot of people who have had 2/3 miscarriages but I feel completely alone with this many. I feel like I may as well just give up now. I keep trying and I keep failing.

I'm sorry for your losses.

Is it you with with balanced translocation or your babies?

My ex h had a balanced 11 & 22 translocation. I had many miscarriages, so many that I became numb to it. I did go on to have 3 children each with minor learning difficulties. All have the same translocation, my daughter has had children successfully with no miscarriages.

I have the translocation. Mine is inherited from my family and so they've said I'm unlikely to have a child with difficulties caused by it (as there are none in my family iyswim). But I've had the most miscarriages out of everyone in my family who's suffered with it.

I was starting to get numb to it like you say and then the hospital asked me to take progesterone as they were all at 6 weeks and so they were suspicious that something else might be at play too (thin womb lining). The progesterone is what has caused the miscarriage to be 'delayed' and not happen naturally like all the others so I now don't know what to do. I don't want to keep taking that and have a missed MC every time Sad

Are you registered to a genetics consultant at the hospital? Id get an appt to go and discuss all the ins and outs.

With me some of the miscarriages were due to the translocation being unbalanced in the foetus and others had no apparent cause.

It's a weird thing wanting a baby but not being over the moon at a positive pregnancy test and checking every time you go the loo for the bleeding.

Good luck, because a lot of the time it is just pure luck.

Yes but I'm still waiting for my appointment with them!

Do you mind me asking if your successful pregnancies were natural or IVF?
