Brown spotting after 7w transvaginal ultrasound

Hello I’m new to this site so not sure how this works but here I go.

I’m currently 7w+4 days pregnant with my 2nd baby. Had an early scan yesterday due to me cramping and being told I had a hematoma when I went for a private scan. Seen the baby and everything looked great, strong heartbeat and everything. The lady kept saying congrats.
She had to put a lot of pressure on my tummy to get a clear view of baby which hurt (she said I have tilted uterus) so it’s hard to see clearly in first trimester. So she said she’d have to do transvaginal aswell just to get the proper measurements of the baby.
Fast forward to several hours after and when I went to the toilet I seen brown blood when I wiped. I was confused and shocked. I phoned the 111 service(here in uk) and got an appointment with the out of hours gp. He told me that he cannot reassure me that everything was going to be ok. All he said is it’s reassuring that I had seen the baby & heartbeat earlier that day and he sent me home. This morning the brown spotting is still there but it’s not on the pad and isn’t always present when I wipe.
I don’t know what to do, I was so happy when I seen my little baby and the thought of losing them just makes me feel terrible. I said to my dd that i may call the place I had the scan done to see what they may suggest.

I don’t know what I’m looking for here but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sometimes the transvaginal scan can cause spotting is what I was told before starting it. But I only went there with three diffrent pregnancies because I was already bleeding. It turns out I'm one of the women who bleed early in the pregnancy. But I don't get cramps, just stretching pain here and there whilst pregnant. Does hemotoma cause bleeding?

Yes they said the hematoma can cause bleeding but when they did the scan yesterday they couldn’t see any bleeding inside and said everything looked good. I phoned up the early pregnancy unit where I had the scan and the women reassured me that it was old blood and not to worry because the scan was good yesterday but I’m a natural worrier so I can’t help but think I’m gonna have a mc

I had brown spotting and also several bleeds from6 to 20 weeks due to a hematoma. My baby was born at term, safe and well, but it is anxiety-inducing at the time. I had 5 scans before 12 weeks for various reasons and I remember well how they reassure until a few hours after you come out and then the anxiety returns. Distraction is your friend right now.

Be kind to yourself and if you think waiting for the NHS 12 week scan will drive you crazy, give yourself permission to book a private scan in, say, 2 weeks time (or if you feel another scan would be unhelpful, give yourself permission to wait).

If they could no longer see the hematoma yesterday, sounds like maybe it has already reabsorbed and the brown spotting is the remaining old blood from it, making its way out. Fingers crossed.

@Mamarissi hi, was everything okay in the end? I’ve had the exact same situation as you today. Hope all went okay for you xxx

Hello,

After the scan I had the spotting, it lasted a few days. I called the early pregnancy unit and they said it was normal. The brown spotting went after a few days. I was so worried for the wait to the 12 week scan. Thankfully everything was well and now my son is a healthy and happy 8 month old.

Try to rest as much as you can, try not to stress, I know it’s not easy but the nurse I spoke to told me it is quite normal. If it becomes heavier or it changes colour please contact your early pregnancy unit or drs and get checked over. I hope all goes smoothly for you.
