D and C possible straight away?

Reading these pages has helped me so much.

I am supposed to be 9 weeks or so but had scan at EPU after several days bleeding. They can't see baby or heartbeat, just a yolk sac. I'm certain my dates are right so can't see any hope at all but have another scan next week to confirm

If all confirmed, will I have option of D and C? I have been bleeding for a long time already and struggling to manage idea of other options with toddler to look after, husband that often works away and being self-employed. I would want to have treatment and move on ASAP.

Thank you

Sorry but to add-

Bleeding so far not heavy or unusual, just like normal period so the miscarriage has not fully started

I have a uterine abnormality (double womb and cervix, uterus didelphys) so I am not certain of my body's ability to miscarry in usual way or whether my experience would be worse because of 2 wombs!

I had a D&C (or ERPC as they call it now) on Friday. It sounds like i was in a similar situation to you - I was bleeding for over a month very lightly and had three different scans when I finally got confirmation that although the baby was still there, it had not grown and there was no heart beat. I also have a toddler at home, and my partner works a lot so I opted for the surgery option. They gave me all three options which I was glad about as I didn't realise I would have the choice. They did try to sway me away from the surgery option but after doing my own research I decided it would be best for me. So I'm sure if all hospitals work similarly you will get a choice, just make sure you do what you want to do. I would also like to add that my recovery has been very quick. I felt a bit out of it the day after and had a few cramps but nothing bad at all and feel more or less back to normal now (physically). It was definitely the right option for me. I am sorry to hear what you are going through, it is horrible waiting I know.

Thanks AAHL. Sorry for your loss and hope that mentally the recovery is not too difficult for you. It's reassuring to hear that I should have some options, I'll go prepared to be assertive and ask for what I need.

Sorry for your sad news. I had a third scan yesterday which confirmed the miscarriage was incomplete and was given options straight away. They said if I opted for surgery they could probably do it that day or the next so I don't think there would have been much waiting involved

Sending thoughts to you too Roxy and anyone else reading this in a similar position. The waiting is awful. Feeling a bit more in control with some good information helps a little bit
