Unsuccessful medical management

I had a mmc at 9 weeks and had medical management three weeks ago.
I took a test yesterday and still positive went to epu and my hormone levels were just under 8000 they mentioned something else was 12.9. Can’t remember what. Has anyone had this before? I have a scan today.

Hi Blondie,

I'm so sorry to hear.

My situation was fairly similar, my baby stopped developing at around six weeks after seeing a heartbeat and I had medical management at ten weeks.

It took almost two months for it to go back to down to negative. I was admitted into the hospital a month after my medical management as I had a high temperature and they thought it was incomplete and kept me in due to suspected sepsis. They told me then that at the time of medical management my levels were at 55,000 so it does take a while to go back down.

Fingers crossed everything is okay for you. Keep us updated.

Thank you for the reply! Did it go back down naturally or did you have to have a d and c?

You're welcome.

It did go back down naturally but it took a while. they did a scan to ensure it was complete when I was admitted for sepsis, otherwise, they would not have done a scan for me as they kept palming me off until they realised they hadn't caught the foetus when they said they had.

So no d and c in the end as I was in the clear.

I hope you're in the clear too. It's such a heartbreaking situation to go through and when you're just trying to move forward , just getting dragged back to where we were emotionally and physically to recover again.

Not long back from hospital. Had my scan and everything is still there I haven’t passed much 😭. Go back in next week for surgical treatment. I was just beginning to feel normal and got back to work and now feel like I’m back to square one

Sorry to hear @Blondie790 I had failed medical management too, though slightly different from yours and ended up having the d&c. In the end it was a much better option and had I know would have probably chose it from the start.

How did you feel after it? I just don’t know what to let work know recovery wise

I'm so sorry to hear Blondie. Unfortunately I have no experience with d and c but has the hospital said anything about recovery time or is it down to how you feel? If you can't decide on a time maybe ask them to give you a couple of days to think about it if they're flexible enough? It's a hard time and I hope they recognise this if they're aware of the situation.

Sending virtual hugs your way.
