22 years old and 3 early miscarriages, success stories?

Hi Ladies,

I'm 22 years old and I've had 3 miscarriages. My first at 5.5 weeks, my second was a chemical and I started bleeding a few days after my positive, and my last in March at 6 weeks, it was actually classed as a pregnancy of unknown location and we never did know whether it was ectopic or not, I'm guessing by the severity of my pain and bleeding that it was (ended up very poorly in hospital). This is all within the last year. It's absolutely breaking my heart and day in day out all I think about is how I'll never be a mum, I'm sure others can agree.

I'm desperate to try progesterone the next time I fall pregnant, I used aspirin the last time which got me the furthest I've ever been but sadly it was not enough...I get pregnant so easily. I just LOVE to hear success stories, please please tell me your success stories after loss, it really does give me hope to hear about all other ladies medications and prescriptions given to get that sticky baby x

Hi!!
we have honestly had virtually the same thing happen to us.

I've had 1 miscarriage at 12 weeks, 1 at 8 weeks and then a ectopic pregnancy ( I did have to have my tube removed though)!.

Did they not offer you blood tests? Because we are so young, they are so negative about giving testing other than bloods.

I fall really easily too, but unlike you can't get that sticky baby!

I'm the same age as you aswell and never seen another one else who's struggling young? Did you fall pregnant one month after the other? Or did you give yourself a break.

I've not tried any medication yet as the consultant said she believes I've just had bad luck!! x

Hi! Wow! Thats crazy we’ve basically had the same happen to both of us. It’s so awful I’m sorry you’ve had to go through it too :( . I made an appointment with my GP after my last mc and I’ve now been referred to the recurrent miscarriage centre at the hospital which is a good step in the right direction. I had a pretty big blood test done also the other week to test for blood clotting, my thyroid, and my hormones and not sure what else but I get my results tomorrow from that! Have you any tests done? I’m kind of hoping for a problem to be wrong so that I can get it fixed.

I have also searched endlessly on these websites and never seen anyone else of the same age!! I’m going to push for progesterone next time, and even injections for blood clotting, I’m going to ask for everything just for precaution but myself and my boyfriend are going to wait for the more intense tests with the recurrent clinic to start trying again in case something is found. I have gotten pregnant every single time we’ve tried, I even got pregnant from intercourse 5 days before ovulation so myself and my boyfriend seem to be very fertile which is always good! My pregnancies weren’t one after the after we did wait a few moths in between, we don’t live together so sometimes we weren’t together when I was ovulating.

Get booked into your local recurrent miscarraige centre!!x

@Shanvjm

I know i think it's pretty unusual for someone of our age to go through this, I've actually already been to my appointment at the reaccurant miscarriage centre - and well what an experience!

I've already been told I don't have any conditions going on within my womb as I've had my tube taken out and they checked whilst they was in there.

I've also already had the blood tests but my results aren't for another week or so. So I'm not to sure if anything will come back with either of them.

Ahh it's good you waited. I'm also waiting, I think it gives you the best shot next time. Have you also been keeping up with your folic acid vitamin? Keep taking that one as I got advised to take it 3 months before trying to conceive again! Even though I've been taking it for the last year!!!

My appointment at the centre was abit disheartening, she basically said because I don't drink, smoke, I'm not over weight and me and my partner both look healthy.. that there was nothing wrong with me.

She said she would wait for me to have another TWO misscarriage before she would refer me to a research centre. I was so annoyed.

But by what I've read this is pretty normal. What else did they say they would check for?

I've also had loads of internal scans done etc too:(

So they are putting it down to bad luck atm unless these bloods show anything else up!!

@Shanvjm

Could you let me know how you get on? Hope it goes okay. I'd love to hear what your results are like as I'm not to sure what to expect with mine!! Xx

Suggest seeking a referral to a specialist mc clinic, eg st mary’s (if you’re in or near London), eg for tests for blood clotting, genetic issues, polycystic ovaries.

Prof Lesley Regan’s book is good.

Loopytiles · 15/05/2019 16:17

If a loss is due to a genetic, womb or ovarian issue, aspirin, progesterone etc won’t make a difference.

Shanvjm · 15/05/2019 16:20

@Loopytiles

Thanks, I have heard many women say to go there. My boyfriend and I have just bought our first house very close to London which is such a relief knowing it wouldn't be far for appointments.

Thank you x

@ADVICENEEDED134

I am going to start taking the folic acid after my appointment at the miscarriage center in July, as some women have to take folate instead and I'm gonna wait to see if I fall into that category. I've read so much on the internet my brain doesn't know what's right and what's wrong, but it's so addictive to constantly research!

That is awful that she has said just by looking at you both that you're both healthy. Obviously, you probably are, but how does she know what's going on inside? I'd be p'd off at that. They just expect us to go through miscarriage after miscarriage until be get our baby. It's awful, after each it's made me extremely low and not myself, can't concentrate at work and just constantly wonder what's wrong, I'm sure you're the same.

When they classed my last as unknown location pregnancy, I too had a scan at the EPA unit and my ovaries, womb, and my lining all looked 'great'.. which is good to hear.

Are you on Instagram so we could keep in touch with each others journey? I won't be offended if that a little too personal for you.

:)

I was a lot older than you , but had had 4 early miscarriages, all before 8 weeks. I had no problem getting pregnant just couldn’t stay pregnant, it was so frustrating and due to my age (38 at the time) I really felt time was running out. I had numerous testing on the NHS , everything came back fine and DH had super sperm. I then started googling progesterone and became convinced that’s what I needed. I went to the drs and asked for some but he refused as he didn’t know anything about it. At another hospital appointment I begged for it, he gave me a prescription saying ‘ it won’t do anything you’ve just been unlucky ‘. I got pregnant again it started the same as the others , no symptoms at all. I was booked in for an early scan - 6 weeks fully expecting there to be nothing there but there was ! I used the progesterone for 18 weeks and now have a lovely 5 yr old. Coincidence? We will never definitely know but to me he is my ‘ progesterone child !’ . Keep trying, keep pushing for answers x

Shanvjm · 15/05/2019 16:46

I'm sorry to hear you've been through many losses also, but so so happy to hear you got your lovely baby. With my last MC I called and called to see my GP to see me so I could get a prescription for progesterone before it was too late and they wouldn't see me soon enough and I Mc'd a few days later. I was so angry and hurt. As mine are all before 6 ish weeks I'm hoping that progesterone will prevent another loss. Was your prescription injections or was it pessaries? x

pumpkinpie01 · 15/05/2019 17:02

It was pessaries, which were taken anally as I read that was best. ( not pleasant but I was on a mission !)
