Feeling lost - reoccurring loses

I don't know what I'm looking for, if it's advice or just reassurance that someone else has been in a similar position and come out with a happy ending.

I started trying to conceive over a year and 9 months ago. After a year of trying we finally fell pregnant which I miscarried at 12 weeks. I then got the go ahead by my midwifes who said there was no need to wait and fell pregnant the following month. I also miscarried this pregnancy.

This time we used contraception but by miracle I fell pregnant AGAIN. The next month. Still to this day we aren't sure how. This pregnancy was ectopic and resulted in me having to have my left tube taken away.

We have been advised to wait three months and have no been referred to have tests done to see why I'm having these reoccurring loses. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and had a positive out come?

I'm only 22 and feeling heart broken. I had three loses in 9 months and would have been due this month.

Luckily after struggling to communicate, me and my partner finally seem to be able to communicate properly and are both have said we are abit nervous. We have the appointment next week and have no idea what to expect or what they will test us for? Does anyone know? How long did everyone wait before trying again? I feel super nervous as the ectopic was a awful experience :(

Your story is very similar to mine - I had back to back 2 miscarriages in a row followed by a ruptured ectopic (Also left tube removed) and then ttc over a year - one failed ivf cycle in February- natural BFP in April and then miscarriage last week

My doctors have said my ectopic definitely wasn't helped by falling pregnant 3 months in a row without waiting for at least one cycle in between - definitely lesson learnt there!
Were you given MTX as well as losing your tube as you HAVE to wait 3 months after being given that as it's so dangerous to have in your system if you get pregnant again?

Have you been referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic? Or to a fertility clinic? At your age they would make you wait 2 years from the date of your last pregnancy (even if it ended in miscarriage or ectopic) before they'll usually start tests so sounds like it's the miscarriage clinic they are sending you to?

They generally just run blood tests on thyroid and blood clotting factors and that's it - mine refused to test my partners sperm. They may do an ultrasound of your uterus to check the shape and lining?
Have you requested an HSG test on your remaining tube? This will tell you if it's blocked (won't tell you if it's working though)

I was really disheartened after my ectopic that we just weren't falling pregnant - compared to before it when I got pregnant 3 times in a row - even though had miscarriage last week I'm feeling a bit more positive that we may have a successful pregnancy one day (and I'm 36!)

X

Ahh does sound really similar! Thank you for replying.

I'm not to sure what they have referee me too, it's at the maternity unit where I've been going with the miscarriages etc too.

I've not, I will request one and see what they say.

Did anything come up in your tests? What exactly do they do blood tests for? Do they check things like thyroid and diabetes too?

I'm feeling extremely anxious about this appointment as I was lucky to get it anyways. I did think they would have the " your only young approach" towards me but I kinda feel like saying " EXACTLY!, I'm young, healthy and never had any health problems before all this".

Had you? Are you going to try IVF again? What was it like?

Good luck, I really hope you get your happy ending soon !!!! Smile

No I wasn't giving MTX aswell, it was sort of a rushed approach, they knew my HCG was too high anyways soo I didn't really have much option.

Really hope your okay, no worse pain than losing another pregnancy 🥺❤️

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I had four miscarriages, three consecutive, and was referred for tests. By the time my appointment came around I was newly pregnant and prescribed progesterone supplements (cyclogest) as a cant hurt, might help. The pregnancy was successful and I’m sure this was why.

I hope you get some answers x

@WifOfBif

Thank you for the reply. Oh I really hope that they can find a solution like that for me and my partner. Sometimes life feels so unfair, especially because me and my partner have tired do everything right 🥺 xx

It feels very unfair doesn’t it? And it sucks the joy out of any future pregnancies because you do nothing but worry.

I didn't have any major health problems that i was aware of - I did have a miscarriage at 12 weeks in 2015 but did go on to conceive a DD a few months later. Since DD we have had another 3 mc and the ectopic.

All my tests from the miscarriage clinic came back fine and it was a bit disheartening- I almost wish they had found something as at least then we would have a reason and they would be able to treat it
Yes they should run blood tests for thyroid etc - not sure on the diabetes though?

I did short protocol IVF - so only had to do injections for 10 days compared to normal ivf which is 6 weeks of medication - so I found the whole process very easy and had no side effects.

My ivf clinic actually prescribed me progesterone as mentioned by a previous poster as well as blood thinners and steroids when I got pregnant naturally last month - it didn't make a difference and I still miscarried anyway so I suspect it's a chromosome issue as we ve ruled everything else out now? Chromosome testing of embryos during IVF is really expensive (£3k) and they don't offer it on the NHS but I think we will most likely pay to get it done to hopefully avoid more losses

Fingers crossed the miscarriage clinic can help you! 🤞🤞🤞

Oh thank you. Really hope and pray your lucky soon and can give your little one a sibling.

When you had DD did you do anything differently ? Like cut out anything or take anything? Or do you think was just luck?

Thank you for the replies! It's put my mind at ease! xxx

When I got pregnant with DD I don't remember doing anything differently - although I was 4 years younger and that obviously helped!

I'm actually probably more healthier now than I've ever been and take more conception supplements etc but it's not made a difference so I think it was honestly pure luck! X
