Hello I've recently had my 2nd miscarriage. I only found out yesterday after doing a pregnancy test. I only found out I was last Friday. So I was pregnant for about 4 days... and started bleeding I knew all the signs as. Been through it before. I'm absolutely gutted I can't believe it's happened twice. I'm tourching myself day and night about it. Does anyone know of any tests I should have ? As I can get pregnant my body's just rejecting it. I was 9weeks 6days days with last pregnancy. I'm due to have ivf and got my consent signing form on the 14th. I got pregnant inbetween my group session and my consent signing. I literally can't believe it all. SadSadSad

Unfortunately the NHS will make you wait until 3 miscarriages before they will do any real testing.

The tests are usually only blood tests and check blood clotting and thyroid etc
If your starting ivf then you will have had lots of scans etc with that to check uterus shape and lining thickness ?

Your ivf clinic may put you on blood thinners, steroids or progesterone supplements but I had a natural BFP before starting another cycle of private ivf and recently miscarried despite taking all that extra medication.... x

Exactly as above poster has written.
It takes 3 consecutive miscarriages to have any tests. I have had 3 but not consecutive, as had a daughter after the first.
However due to other fertility reasons I've recently had scans in prep for IVF, and they started to explore any potential reasons for m/c's.

If you have a bit of spare cash you could opt to have some detailed uterus scans privately at a fertility clinic probably. Scans for me showed up an abnormally shaped uterus. For me, it was mild but there are cases where something called a bicornuate uterus or septate uterus could cause miscarriage.
Something worth considering if you are worried.

However saying that, all my tests were normal and the multiple miscarriages were just chromosomal, so nothing can change that and nothing is causing the mc in particular apparently.

Don't give up hope - keep going. It's the most distressing and horrible of times but it's the hope that will pull you through and make you stronger.
Good luck and don't torture yourself. You are not to blame.

Xx

Hi OP, I'm also going through my second MC, I have a 20month DC. I asked on blood tests and as per above, was told I'd have to have three MC before they would do any tests or referrals. He did say a lot of early MCs were chromosomal and it was just "bad luck". I'm not sure it reassures me for having another go though. X

Hello thanks for replying. I have had tubes checked. And got diagnosed with pcos 2 years ago with internal scan. Haven't had uterus checked etc. I'm hoping that's all going to come with the ivf treatment. I can't believe it's happened twice. Im worried im going to go through all this and it happen again. It's a very long and lonely road. Does anyone think they will let me have ivf ? As I've had two positives. It was under 6weeks pregnant so I'm hoping every thing should still go ahead Hmm

There had been some research in to PCOS and insulin resistance. You may not even be overweight but it could be worth following s PCOS diet while trying again.. also perhaps try taking some inositol supplements? I’ve had three miscarriages and they are emotionally hard work so take some time for you as well x

In addition to asking your doctor about the inositol, CoQ10 may be another to ask about as it may support fertility and there is also some research on it for PCOS support.
