Hi,
I'm 11 weeks and pretty sure I'm miscarrying. Been bleeding and getting bad pains, I am going to hospital first thing but I just wanted to know what will actually happen and what will they do? Will they just give me a pregnancy test or will I likely have a scan. I don't think i can face having a scan and seeing it empty.

They'll probably give you a scan! Are you heavily bleeding and are there clots?? I've had 2 miscarriages and 2 episodes of bleeding during a pregnancy that was successful!

I didn't look at the screen, they will turn it away from you. Don't worry yet as it may not be a miscarriage!

They will scan you because a pregnancy test would remain positive for some time after you miscarry, it takes a while for levels to drop. Ask for the screen to be turned away if you don't want to see. It may all be ok though, many women bleed in successful pregnancies. Fingers crossed for you...

I am so sorry OP. Flowers

When I miscarried at 8 weeks, I started bleeding at 7 weeks and I went for a scan at the early pregnancy unit expecting the worst. But there was still a heartbeat and she said some women have something called a sub-something haematoma (basically, a bleed) and not to worry too much. I carried on bleeding but not massively heavily, and I tried not to worry too much (very unlike me) a a few days later I passed the pregnancy. It didn’t hurt but I was confused as I had thought everything was Ok. When I went to the hospital I mainly wanted to know ‘had I miscarried’ and they were mainly concerned with whether I was bleeding too much (which would indicate that not all of the pregnancy had passed I think) which I wasn’t and after a bit of observation I was sent home. I didn’t have another scan or test.

You’ll get a scan and blood tests I imagine. I’ve had a MC with sort of stabbing needle like pain, cramping and bleeding. I also had lots of bleeding during the (successful) pregnancy with my daughter but without bad pain, just twinges and a bit of back cramp. I hope you’ll be lucky but I’m sorry you’re going through this - you can ask for the screen in your sight to be angled away/switched off if there’s two so that you can’t see anything you just get told by the sonographer what the situation is.

So sorry to everyone here that's been through a miscarriage. I am pretty sure I've miscarried as been passing big blood clots. The bleeding has all but stopped now, and I can't feel the baby (usually my partner has a poke around and can feel where the baby is sitting), I can almost tell I'm not pregnant any more if that makes sense. Not quite sure how to feel. This baby was unplanned, rubbish timing but I still wanted him/her and am kinda devastated I'm not gonna be a mum now.

I understand, I felt similar (just really not feeling pregnant anymore) and not knowing how to feel even though mine was planned. I just felt really confused TBH. Do go to the EPU today just to be sure (if you haven’t passed any ‘tissue’ (sorry - awful word) you just never know!)

When I walked out of the hospital the second time it hit me and I cried and that helped but it definitely wasn’t an immediate reaction. Flowers
