I've just found out I've had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks (& having a 8 week successful scan and heartbeat heard which is 10% chance) and after having a miscarriage September last year so feeling rather broken and sad ATM :(
Now I need to decide to have surgery or tablet... any advice? X

So sorry. Of course you're feeling broken and sad.

I've had a erpc due to massive blood loss so became the logical choice for my situation. It was under general and was painless. Not had the tablet so can't comment on that.

If you've got any questions please ask I'm happy to share if it's helpful to anyone.

This happened to me at the same age. So so sad, i have no words for how sad it was.

For me the surgery was better because it was half-an-hour unconscious and then all over, no lingering over it. But that is just psychologically what worked for me - I know a lot of people find the medical management better for them. If you've previously had a natural miscarriage, then at least you know what to expect if you go that route. It really is just personal choice. FWIW, the nurses were very kind and I was very well looked after, and home in a couple of hours.

You have all my sympathies. It was the most awful thing to go through. Be kind to yourself. Flowers

I'm sorry you're going through this.

A very difficult time with difficult decisions ahead.. two weeks ago I was in the same position and I chose to have medical management, really wanted to get surgical management because I didn't want to go through the emotional pain . but ive read stories where people had scarring and that worried me. There are plenty of positive stories so please don't let me put you off, it was just a personal choice of mine considering I fall into the 1% of the women who has consecutive miscarriages so I also didn't want to risk my chances. Wish you the best and keep us updated Flowers

I'm really sorry :( I had a mmc at 9 weeks in November and it truly was heartrenching. I still get a bit upset even now so do be extra kind to yourself xx

as for the process I went for an erpc as i couldn't bare the idea of it being dragged out any longer or seeing anything :( felt like it would haunt me to see stuff but that's just me - it was done very quickly, i was put to sleep came round afterwards within an hour and was looked after exceptionally well and my bleeding stopped within 10 days.

i truly do feel for you, horrible horrible experience, one I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy x

I went for the surgery option, as like others have said I just wanted it over with. Sorry you're going through this OP Thanks

I also went for the ERPC over the tablet. It was painless, fast and I was quite detached from the process. I am so sorry for your loss x

Sorry this has happened.
I was in exactly this situation this week.
Normal scan with heartbeat at 8+6 went for routine scan at 10+3 and had stopped growing at 9+1.
I knew I only wanted the surgical option as had not had any pain or bleeding.
Saw epau yesterday and went to theatre today.
Went into theatre at 9.40 back and awake one recovery by 10.30 and ready to leave about midday.
Pain score is 1-2/10 and bleeding is light.
I am so glad I made this decision. It also has the lowest failure rate (10%) so I know that it is mostly all over and I can move on with my life.

Medical has a success rate of 84% and you may need to stay in hospital - you will experience pain, bleeding and will pass the pregnancy. They will give you pain killers etc.

I used to be a gynae dr so have seen both sides.

Hey.. hope you are holding up okay.. x
For my first mmc in 2017 I had the surgery. It was general anesthetic so less traumatic however it did take me a week to recover from it - I just felt weak and couldn’t lift my feet to walk about. But it was at 12wk i guess it was still the right decision - a lot to remove. This time I considered tablet but seems it’s naturally happening anyway. Last night I had quite heavy bleeding as if a heavy period and at 2am ish I passed some blood clots. Don’t think that was everything yet but hopefully the body can get it done soon...

So sorry for your loss Flowers. I was in a similar situation and opted for tablets as I was scared of the ERPC. Unfortunately they didn’t work at all so I had to wait a full week and then asked for an ERPC because I couldn’t bare to just keep waiting. It was actually really ok. The medical staff were lovely, it was really straightforward and I had no pain at all. I felt normal, if a bit tired and I was back at work after a few days.
There is no right or wrong though, it’s whatever you feel comfortable with.
