Miscarriage at 11 weeks. Now what?

I’ve sadly miscarried our 2nd baby at 11 weeks.
I had to stay overnight in the hospital due to severe bleeding. I’ve now been discharged but given no information, leaflets, advice etc.

What happens next? Is there a follow up appointment? The placenta has been sent to histology, will I hear anything back via an appointment or a letter If at all?

I don’t really know what I’m asking, I feel empty, heartbroken and I suppose the practical side of me just wants to know what’s next or are we just left to get on and try again?

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers.

It feels incredibly harsh to be left out in the cold after a miscarriage but essentially the doctors will be concerned about your physical health in terms of your uterus retracting and the bleeding stopping. Your mental health on the other hand will possibly overlooked during what is an incredibly difficult time for you and your husband/partner. Don't be afraid to ask your GP for support or contacts Sands too. There's always Mumsnet of course but if you want soething more practical then you could consider bereavement counselling.

Please take great care of yourself. You've gone through a huge ordeal both mentally and physically and it'll take you some time to recover. You can't and won't "move on" until you feel ready, but it's very early days and there's no rush. It's OK to grieve. Hugs xx

I feel your pain. I had a miscarriage little under 2 weeks ago the day before my 12 week scan and it does feel very much like your sent home to just get on with it doesn’t it. I was given open access to the unit for just under a month however but that was incase I had any concerns over the bleeding etc.

It’s unlikely you will hear anything back from them unless they find anything that needs investigating but chances are it was just one of those things that was caused by nothing at all.

It’s a difficult time to get through but we will. I’ve certainly found this section of mumsnet to be very useful at this difficult, emotional time but have to add my partner has been amazing despite suffering himself.

Big hugs hun. Look after yourself. If in doubt t you could always give your doctor a shout? Xxx
