Are flower appropriate post-miscarriage

Hello Ladies,
One of my best friends has just suffered a miscarriage. She was in the latter part of her first trimester and honestly, I have no words! I just feel so sorry for her and her husband.

I thought to send flowers, just to let them know that my husband and I are thinking of them. Would this be appropriate in this situation?

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer,

S x

I tihnk it depends on the person really. From what you know of her do you think she’d be ok with receiving flowers or does she want to just shut the world out for now?

I know I was touched when a friend sent me flowers after I had a miscarriage, she waited a while before sending them tho.

I was very raw and in huge pain right at the beginning and not thinking straight.

I received some flowers and it was a nice gesture. There's no harm in sending any imo.

I had flowers after I lost my baby but they were a funeral/in sympathy bouquet and it really upset me to have a constant reminder of our loss. A colourful bunch just to say thinking of you would have been much more appreciated.

I received some flowers and also a few cards and some chocolate. It was lovely actually, to know they were thinking of me. Sorry for your friend. Xx

Get her some heartsease in a little pot.(Small purple and yellow pansy type flowers, previously associated with the Miscarriage Association).

Many years ago when I registered as a member with this charity, along with their newsletter they sent me a packet of Heartsease seeds. It meant a lot at the time; the whole meaning behind it.

I’ve sent sunflowers before, something cheerful which was well received. No one gave me flowers when I miscarried and I really wished someone had. The pain was so raw and flowers would have been a really nice gesture.

A friend of mine sent me flowers after mine and I thought it was a lovely gesture to know that she was thinking about me. X

A friend of mine sent me a very kind message saying she had made a donation to a miscarriage/baby loss charity in memory of my lost baby. I was so incredibly touched. Flowers would also be a sweet thought but I agree they should be bright and cheerful or perhaps Christmassy, not sad or sympathetic.

I hated getting flowers, they should have been congratulations on your baby flowers 6 months later.
I couldn’t bear to look at them and asked DH to throw them away.
I appreciated the thought but I hated the flowers

A friend of mine got me done chocolate, magazines and really nice bath stuff. She was the only person who got anything including DH and it was very, very much appreciated

Pretty flowers, not a funeral type bouquet. Something hand tied.
It shows you care.

My Dsis sent me flowers, it was one of those arrangements that come in water in cellophane so I didn't even have to find a vase. They were very appreciated. DM once told me to never send any flowers with a strong perfume though as the smell will always remind you.

My mum gave me a bunch of flowers. I really appreciated it. You sound like a lovely thoughtful friend.
