I have posted on here a few times before when going through my miscarriage (blighted ovum) and had great support.

To cut the long story short when I miscarried last year I ended up in a&e bleeding extremely heavy, put on a drip and had to have the products of conception as the hospital called it.. removed there and then by the doctor to let my uterus contract back down and stop the horrific blood loss. I’m wondering how common this is?

Since then I have been severely anemic (not surprisingly!) and been on meds to bring my iron levels back up. They are stick quite low (ferritin 28) but doctors have given me the go ahead to try again. Which I am also nervous about.. anyone else with low ferritin ttc or had a successful pregnancy?

Obviously I am really nervous of a repeat experience.. but what I wondered was if I have had this bad bleed during a miscarriage am I more likely to have heavy bleeding in childbirth? Or is that a silly question and it’s a chance we all have to take!?!

Xmas Hmm

Your miscarriage sounds extremely similar to mine - and I’m so sorry for your loss. I had severe bleeding and was admitted and put on fluids and in hospital for a couple of days, monitored frequently as I passed out from pain and blood loss. From what I was told, it’s unlikely that heavy bleeding during this type of miscarriage could occur during labour without any pre-existing complications. Maybe speak to the doctor and see what they say?
