I had an early miscarriage (was only 5 weeks pregnant) on 3/4 August. I had a negative pregnancy test straight after. It’s now been 9 weeks and I still haven’t had a period. I’ve done a pregnancy test and definitely not pregnant again.
I’m getting more and more worried and paranoid that I won’t ovulate again and have a period. I’m 36, desperate for a little brother or sister for my 6 year old.
Has anybody else been in this situation but later went on to have a healthy pregnancy? How long did it take before you had your period after miscarriage? My periods were regularly 30-32 days prior to the miscarriage.
Feeling so down about it.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss :(

I thought I would share my story as I had no idea what to expect from my body after my miscarriage - there is very little information out there as I guess every woman is so different so I can tell you from my experience. I had a missed miscarriage at 11weeks in July and had an ERPC a week later.

The hcg hormone finally left my system after 6weeks and I had a spotting period in September - Between September and October my cycle went from a regular 28day to a 34 day and I am currently on my first normal period (although a lot heavier than usual! I’m not complaining as I’m just so happy to have it back finally). So if I classed this one as my first period it would be 10/11 weeks from my erpc xx

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I lost my first at 5 weeks and was just desperate to get back into my cycle and try again but my body wasn't playing ball. My cycle extended to two months.

Your body has taken an enormous hormonal hit and it can take a while to get back to normal. Do go back to your GP if you're concerned though.

Meant to add, yes, I did have a subsequent successful pregnancy, six months (but just three menstrual cycles) later. (And another one two years after that).

@Lemon1 so sorry for your loss too Flowers. Sorry that you had to wait for so long too, but at the same time it’s reassuring. It feels like my periods are never coming back!

@NeopreneMermaid sorry for your loss too Flowers. That’s really reassuring though, so thank you for replying! I guess I need to stop worrying and let nature take its course

Sorry for your loss Flowers

I would ask your GP for a referral. Early menopause is a possibility and you should ask for blood tests to eliminate this. Only saying this because I was 37 when this happened to me.
