How long did you wait?

How long did you have to wait until your hospital could offer you a slot for surgical management of an MMC? The earliest date available is in a week... Feels like a long wait when I want to put this behind me.

I'm so sorry you're y are going through this.

I had to wait a week once it was confirmed as it was hospital policy to have two confirmation scans a week apart.

24 hrs. Both times. 😔 😢 Very sad that you are going through this. Sending hugs. X

I'm sorry to hear that have experienced this procedure on 2 occasions. Are you able to tell me how it was. I am so terrified especially of having my first GA. I had preferred medical management but the wait was even longer and I just want it over with.

The first time, I waited a week after the first scan, (it was over Christmas and New Year, plus we were getting married and they wanted to wait before doing anything) but then was rushed to theatre straight after second scan.
Second time, within two days but it was a wait and see situation.

I am so sorry. Hugs to you. X

I also had to wait a week with my first but then naturally miscarried. I was extremely upset about this (Dr didn't let me stay home so it happened at work). I will never be able to have a natural birth again in a normal manner since that miscarriage hurted so much (physically), even more than giving birth but the pain was so similar (something got stuck causing a lot of bleeding and contractions, but my body did not manage to expell it on it's own).

I hope you get the kind of goodbye you choose to have

The MMC worked well for me. Any procedure under GA is worrying, but this has an extra element of heartache.
The GA was fine. Its quite a weird feeling. When they put the cannula in it stings a little and then you feel a cold sensation up your arm, for about a second or 2, then you wake up afterwards.
I woke up in the recovery room and told the nurse they couldn't do the operation now as I was wide awake. She said it had been done an hour ago. Blush
They then make sure you eat, drink and go to the loo before they release you. I was home within a few hours.
Recovery was fine. A week or so and I was physically back to normal.
Good luck op. I hope you are OK. Flowers

You poor thing. Is it worth agitating a bit; a week sounds ridicuous. PALS if you have the energy?
When I had Medical Management (which only worked second time around) they were going to book me in for Surgical the same day if necessary (admittedly I had atypical circumstances in that I needed to get to my Mum's inquest two days later). I would be tempted to ask if this really is the soonest. I don't see why MM should have such a delay?
Anyway best wishes, I'm so sorry.
