Miscarriage

We recently miscarried at 9 weeks. Feeling very anxious about trying again due to how painful losing this pregnancy was, but also desperate for us to have a baby.
Doc has said wait three cycles before trying, but at the moment that feels like far too long.
Anyone been through this recently? Also thinking we should maybe get some tests done? Has anyone seen a gynaecologist for such reasons? If so, what sort of tests can they do?

So sorry for your loss Flowers it is so tough.
I was told to wait only for another cycle, not 3, but then I MC earlier at 5/6 weeks so it might be different for you.
I was also told no investigations could be done unless I had 3 in a row (I have only had 2)
I hope you feel better soon and good luck!! x

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? Are you trying again? Do you have any children?

Welcome @teacher84, sorry you find yourself here. Flowers

Different doctors have different advice on when to start trying again. Some say wait three cycles, some one. It’s down to personal choice really, but bear in mind how your are coping mentally as well as physically. I’ve had a chemical pregnancy immediately after miscarriage before, and it was very upsetting.

General advice is wait one cycle, but that’s more for ease of dating the pregnancy than anything else. Three cycle advice, will be again about giving yourself some time to grieve, as well as allowing your cycles to regulate.

Some say you are more fertile in the first three months after miscarriage, and therefore more likely to conceive again in this period. I would advise ensuring to you a clear negative pregnancy tests before trying, as the last thing you want is thinking you are pregnant to find out it is left over tissue from the miscarriage.

In terms of tests, you can ask your GP to run some basic bloods, check there is nothing obvious like an infection or thyroid issue. It will be down to your GP whether he/she will do this (some can be awkward). Mine did on my first miscarriage, but everything came back clear.

@Ells0204 is right, re more detailed tests. The general rule of thumb is three miscarriages before being referred to the Recurrant Miscarriage Clinic. Sometimes you may get a referral with two miscarriages if you are 39+ and/or have been trying to conceive for more than two years.

I’m currently awaiting a RMC referral after my third miscarriage last week. We have also opted for having the pregnancy sent away for testing. Hoping for some answers, but unfortunately sometimes there aren’t any.

Great advice @PineapplePrincess!

I turned 25 last month, no babies yet! X

@Ells0204, so young to go through that. I'm sorry 💔.
I've had a full MOT earlier in the year as I kept getting flu all the time and nothing showed up there. But that doesn't test any issues I may have with my uterus or anything.

I think we are going to 'not be careful', opposed to try as soon as the physical issues of this miscarriage have ended. Had more bloods again this morning to ensure that my hormone level continues to drop.

So sorry for your loss.
I recently lost my daughter at 20weeks 2days and was told if i felt ready mentally I could start trying to conceive after my first cycle.

I know, there I was thinking I’m 25 (was actually 24 when I started trying!) young fit and healthy I’ll have a baby easily! How wrong I was! Most of the time they don’t necessarily find a cause but if you do feel like there’s something you need to look into then go for it! Personally, the next time I get my BFP (fingers crossed) I will get my bloods ands hormones checked straight away. I have never been diagnosed with PCOS however do have cysts on my ovaries so I suspect I may have a hormone imbalance and maybe low progesterone, hence why my body is rejecting the pregnancies Sad
