Hi all,
Current poster but name changed for this.

We've been ttc for 10 months and in that time we have had 4 early mc, ranging from CP and 6/7 weeks.
I have a dd already aged 5 from a previous relationship.
The GP referred us to the hospital and in the
Last month we have had two appointments cancelled and now can't be seen until the middle of June.

We have decided to go for a private consultation, and see what we can do. I'm wondering what happens? What tests they do?

To be honest any advice or chat would be wonderful as I'm looking at their website and getting quite anxious and feel rather stupid!

Thank you

Hi Nessa
I'm really sorry about your miscarriages. It's an awful thing to go through but when it happens multiple times it is heart wrenching. I've had 5 miscarriages over the last 2.5 years. I also have a dd aged 3.5. I had no issues conceiving her and it was a straight forward pregnancy. All my issues started after her. I usually miscarry around 7/8 weeks. I am seeing Dr S at the miscarriage clinic in Epsom and I'm also under St Mary's in London. At the appointment you will have a few vials of bloods taken to make sure you don't have a blood clotting issue, check your thyroid levels and have a scan of your uterus. Those are usually the main reasons for recurrent miscarriage. However, in half of the cases a reason is never found (me being one of them). It's very frustrating. Have you looked into the natural killer cells? The NHS doesn't believe in it but a lot of the private consultants do run these test (I am seeing Mr Shehata in Epsom). I would say try to have as many tests as you can get on the NHS and take your results with you to your private consultation. These tests can be very expensive. The natural killer cells test is usually around 2K (it doesn't just test for nk cells but a whole other range).
I'm really sorry you find yourself in this situation. Hopefully you will be able to find a cause for your miscarriages very quickly. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx

Thank you so much for your help.

I requested my scans and my blood results from the GP. The GP reported them as clear back in dec, and When I've received them this week it clearly shows I have PCOS and needs confirming with a blood test: the blood tests I had only showed my hb level! That confirms nothing!!!! What on earth do
I do?

It confirms all the ovulation pain I get and why I can't shift my last stone!!

I am so stressed by this all now x

That's so frustrating. I don't trust the NHS anymore. They've also messed up with my test results.

Where do you live? Are you near London? If so, you can ask your GP to refer to to the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic at St Mary's (you don't need to live in the catchment area). That way you can get most of your tests done for free. They are one of the best clinics in the country (though they don't believe in the nk cells). I use them alongside my private consultant.

Hope you get everything sorted out as quick as possible x

I had recurring MCs back in the 1990s, in the US. Three in all, with a 2yo who had arrived after a problem free pregnancy.

After the third MC my OB did a D&C and ran tests on the some of the tissues - result was 'indeterminate cause', so it remained a mystery. He was looking to rule out congenital issues that might have caused pregnancy failure.

However, since my MCs were all at the 6-8 week window he put me on vaginal progesterone suppositories as soon as I had a confirmed pregnancy again. I experienced morning sickness from hell, my skin broke out, but DS arrived at 41 weeks.

Maybe ask about progesterone?

Thank you,
We are in the south east. I'm going to have an AMH and another scan done and DH a sperm analysis before we see the consultant.

I just feel awful for loosing faith in the NHS, I didn't get an apology- they said 'it would be different if we had missed something like cancer' however now I've written in and been taken seriously they seem happy to help with the private clinic and said they can do any other bloods they need but we will see!!!
