Never ending bleeding - advice please

I've basically been bleeding on and off (every day but to a varying extent) since my first period started on 29 December. I had a mmc in October which was medically managed and then surgically managed at the end of November.

I saw an out of hours doctor yesterday who said I need another ultrasound as the bleeding and stomach pains I've been having aren't normal. (I haven't had any severe stomach pains for a few days but last week they were pretty horrific.) He said if the bleeding got worse I should go to A&E and they'd scan me, or I can wait 7-10 working days for a scan referral.

Just been to the toilet and although the bleeding is intermittent it was heavier than it has been. Do I wait for the referral or do I go to A&E even though I'm not sure it warrants emergency investigation? I don't know what to do. I don't want to waste anyone's time but 10 days seems a long time to wait if there's something wrong.

To rule out retained products of conception I.e. part of a retained placenta still bleeding I would suggest A&E for simple reason of infection.
Sorry for your loss Thanks

Thanks @justforthisnow

There shouldn't be any retained products as the consultant who did the surgery said she got everything, although no one seems to know why I'm still bleeding.

I think A&E might be the safest route - it's 3 months on from the mmc and it's really getting me down that I can't move on emotionally.

That's reassuring BUT I'd still ask for an ultrasound to be sure all placenta gone, the tiniest bit can cause this bleeding. Also other issues need to be outruled, you shouldn't be losing blood at this rate now.
My own tiresome, emotive and bloody experiences have sadly taught me too much, so if you're having no joy re a scan or further investigations I would ask for a copy of their clinical protocol re (insert your medical condition here). In writing.

@justforthisnow Sorry to hear you've been through the wars too.

The bleeding today has got worse so I'm going to go to A&E early tomorrow morning. Hopefully it'll be quieter than on a Sunday night...

Well I went to A&E and also followed up with a visit to the doctor. Apparently I have "irregular uterine bleeding" which is apparently pretty common (who knew?).

Gynae aren't worried about retained products because I didn't bleed like this until after my first period - but I've been prescribed tranexamic acid (or something like that) to try to stop the bleeding so that my body can reset. So far it seems to be doing a decent enough job... Let's see what happens.
