Sorry to everyone who needs to be here. Does anyone know what the difference is between an MVA and a D&C or have any experience of either?

I had an MVA after a MMC in May. It was done under local anaesthetic, and took about 20 minutes. I had a pessary which I think was to open the cervix, then I think local anaesthetic in the cervix, then the doctor used syringe type things to perform the “removal”. It was uncomfortable, but bearable, and I had no pain afterwards and v little bleeding.

I think the difference is that in a d&c thd uterus is scraped to remove the embryo and in an mva suction is used.

Thank you and sorry you had to go through that. That's really helpful.
