I'm just having my 4the consecutive miscarriage - 7wks, 15wks, 11wks, 4/5wks.

Having been in hospital with the further along ones I was told I was lucky to have had some blood tests as they dontake offer them til you've lost at least 4 or 5 babies. I was also told the more babies you lose the more investigations and treatment become available.

Next treatment now unlocked (😐) is the hysteroscopy. I don't want this done. I'm 37 now and a procedure like this will knock out months of trying. I have given it a year break between 3 and 4.

I feel like there's no help available and I don't know what to do. I'm lost. I'm hurt and I'm scared.

So very sorry to hear of your losses 😞 I had two miscarriages at around the 8 week stage and traumatic to say the least I can only imagine what you are going through! So little support and understanding of miscarriage take care and big hugs ❤️

I'm so so sorry for you losses. I had a miscarriage at 5/6 weeks and it was devastating.

I can totally understand you not wanting to lose month trying due to a procedure Sad
What is the purpose of the procedure? Is it diagnostic or a treatment? If the outcome is that you will be able to carry a baby to term then delaying a few months of trying is a small price to pay (especially if the alternative is to go through another miscarriage?).

Sending hugs Flowers

Thank you both so much for taking the time to reply.

The hysteroscopy would only be a diagnostic thing and from what I've heard rather unpleasant. You have to regrow the lining of your womb before trying again. Just seems very invasive

That does sound invasive I was given clomid when pregnant with my daughter but that was 19 years ago and I was 36 don't give up!! I joined the miscarriage association it really helped me having people who understood the losses!!

MrsWiddle · 24/07/2017 12:41

That doesn't sound ideal Sad
Was it the hospital that offered that or your GP? I assume you've asked for alternative options/interventions? Do they have any idea at all why you keep having MCs?
I'm really sorry that I'm not offering much help but you're not alone and you will through this. xxx

K0013 · 24/07/2017 13:15

I just wanted to say that I am so sorry that you are going through this. I think I am going through my first MC so can't offer advice but just wanted you to know I am thinking about you.

Blondienut · 24/07/2017 13:19

So sorry to hear that sad news for you. You must be drained by it 😢

Have you been to a specific reacurrent midscariage clinic? What part of country are you in as I know things vary quite a bit from area to area ?

Polly99 · 24/07/2017 13:28

I don't think the hysteroscopy would knock out months of trying.
If it is genuinely just diagnostic then they put a camera in and take a look. I had my first one on CD 7 and conceived a week later (we were allowed to try again when the sporting stopped).
From what you describe it may be that they want to do a scratch as there is some evidence this can help embryos to stick. This is ideally done on CD21 so it does mean you can't try in that cycle, but you could try again the following one. I know it is hard to contemplate more time off, especially when you are miscarrying, but if it might help it might save you some time in the longer run.
I'm sorry you are going through this.

Recurrent miscarriage is three or more losses and every NHS trust that I've had experience of offers testing after three. You definitely shouldn't have to wait until four of five.
Could you request an internal ultrasound to see if you have a uterine anomaly (like I did) which could be causing your losses? Lots of recurrent miscarriage clinics do these as part of their tests.
What does your GP say?
Good luck and hoping you get the help and support you need.

Hi, I have also just had my 4th miscarriage last night. I also used to work as a gynaecology nurse and a hysteroscopy will not damage your womb lining. It is literally just a camera inside to have a look. They may take a biopsy of the lining of your womb but that will just be a tiny piece and again will not affect trying for a baby. Best of luck.
