Quick question...bleeding started, booked in for ERPC monday

I am booked in for an ERPC on Monday but as as sods law would have it, I started bleeding just as EPU closed today and I would value your advice.

EPU said if I started bleeding before Monday and they were closed, to go to A&E. But I don't know why they say that as I would think they won't do anything?

I wish I had gone for medical management now as then I would have had the anti biotics then and could have started this miserable process on Wednesday. Gaaaaaa! Any advice very welcome.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

You might find the bleeding starts and stops over the weekend. There's nothing a&e can do for you, this might be the start of the natural process.

If the bleeding is excessive, a pad soaked in less than an hour, feeling faint and dizzy etc, don't delay, go to a&e.

I hope you make it until Monday Flowers

Thanks jbee, sounds sensible advice. I have sent dh out for supplies amd he has come back with mahoosive incontinence pants, bed wetting mats, paracetamol and a large cup of white chocolate super snowies. He has done well on all fronts!

So sorry you are going through this. I am in exactly the same situation with ERPC booked for Monday and bleeding starting yesterday. How are you doing today?

MrsBobDylan · 03/06/2017 15:12

I am in huge amounts of pain, keep getting cramps every 3 mins or so and I am making noises like a wounded animal. I thought my last MC was painful but this feels worse (probably because this is happening now!).

How are you going bubble77?

If you're in that much pain, you should really get to A&E.

Bubble77bee · 03/06/2017 15:28

So sorry to hear that MrsBobDylan. Definitely think about checking with the hospital about the pain. Wish none of us had to go through this. My bleeding is only very light right now. I am just praying that it stays like this until Monday.

Are you ok today MrsBobDylan? x

jimijack · 04/06/2017 15:42

Hi, do you have anything with codeine in, if not you can't buy solpadine at Tesco/asda, these may take a bit more of the edge off the pain until the miscarriage comes away.

Also warm bath/shower may help with back/abdominal cramps.

It's miserable, pain was like contractions, miserable.
The only thing I will say is that sometimes some of the tissue can get lodged in the cervix, I had to have help with this once, immediate relief once removed by a very kind lady Dr but the pain went on for hours with stronger contractions as the uterus tried to expel it all.

Sorry you are going through this xx

Well, I was dumb and tried to hang on for this morning's appointment as advised by epu and arrived passing out, vomitting and unable to walk. They wondered why, when I had felt dizzy and faint since the day before, I hadn't gone to a&e. Both me and dh realised we had made a bad call but the hospital staff were amazing. Turns out it was as you describe jimijack and there was a huge amount of product stuck in the cervix. The surgeon got it out without anaesthetic because I was too dizzy to go under at that point and to be honest, I literally couldn't have felt any worse than I did. The relief was immediate! They said I had basically been in labour for two days and I would bloody well concur!!

Anyway, I am anaemic but feeling so much better. Sorry if this is off putting to anyone, this is my 3rd miscarriage and the other two went much more smoothly if that helps.

The moral to this tale is don't be dumb like like me and go to a&e!

Bumble77 hope it's gone as well as it can for you today? Am thinking of you and hope you make a good physical and emotional recovery.

Oh my goodness MrsBobDylan, that sounds horrific. So glad you are ok now, and that they were able to treat you swiftly. I really hope you recover ok now.

I feel incredibly lucky that my procedure went smoothly today - fingers crossed that the recovery carries on going well. I found out that it was called an MVA. The doctor and nurses were so amazing - explained everything really clearly and constantly checked if I was ok. It was under local anaesthetic, and although painful at times, was bearable and over in about 20 minutes. Light bleeding now, and no pain.

Need to make sure we both take it easy now. xx

MrsBobDylan · 05/06/2017 20:59

That's good to hear bubble77, I think it's better to have a local as the general can make you feel tired on top of everything else, which you don't need. You have been really brave and I'm glad that part is over for us both.

Now we've just got to wade through all that emotional shit...onwards and upwards!
