Still birth- maternity leave?

I had a still birth at 30 weeks last week Sad

My manager has called me and given me supported and has told me that I can take a month off with a doctors note. But following advice online from SANDS I am entitled to my maternity leave and pay, I had asked for my leave to start May the 1st and was going to get the MatB1 form the day they told me there was no heart beat.

I'm about to inform my manager that that's the advice I was given but wanted to see if anyone had been refused (so I am prepared).

I'm sorry ginger, Newstart and MsRichard :( :(

I'm planning to do things with my other two dd's (just turned 6 and 2.5yo) this summer as I won't have a new born anymore! Lots of swimming, legoland, trips to museums....

We named her and have her death certificate ( I've yet to look at it, I don't think I will ever bring myself to). Her burial was the next morning as per the Islamic ritual. It was small and attended by all the people who loved her, it was so sad seeing the graves of all the little children- so many broken hearts.

Am so so terribly sorry. My second son was stillborn nearly 9 years ago. I promise it does get more bearable with time. Still so very sad when I think about it of course, but it's no longer my every waking thought anymore.

I took 3 months mat leave (think and did a phased return 1 day a week for another 3 months. Personally I needed something else to focus on and I loved my job.

So sorry Sammy, it is such a devastating time - take as much time as you need. I had a stillbirth at 36w in May last year, and I returned to work in December. I have just had a first-trimester miscarriage, and had two weeks off - previously I went back only a day or so later. At each point in time, I've gone back because it's given my brain something to do rather than sitting at home getting more and more wound up about the 'what-ifs'.
