Go to work while waiting for mc to start??

Went to a&e y'day with some light bleeding and scan confirmed mmc. Second one this year. The first time I had an ERPC but this time, as the bleeding had started I decided to wait and let it happen naturally.

I've bled lightly all day, but no serious pain or clots. Due in work on Monday and just wondering if things haven't changed by Monday, it is reasonable of me to think I could go to work and then just come home if things start to change. Or is this crazy and should I stay home in case things get heavy/extremely painful. I have no idea what to expect...

I really wouldn't. Stay at home and look after yourself Flowers

I'd stay home, depending on how far you were, you could get end up bleeding quite heavily.

It is up to you of course.

So sorry for your loss.

I would stay at home until it's over and then you'll need time to recover afterwards. I was off work for 3 weeks. It can all start happening very quickly. I was at the hospital waiting for my ERPC when it happened. Big hugs to you.

Thanks all.

I think I knew the answer but needed to hear it from others. I'm relatively new to the job and having taken a week off in July (without providing the details) I'm sensitive to yet more time off. Although I know at the end of the day looking after myself is much more important. So many bloody dilemmas created because hardly anyone knew I was pregnant...just makes dealing with everything that bit harder.

It will be classed as pregnancy related sickness which won't go against your sickness record.

To give a different viewpoint, I did go to work while I waited for things to start. It took my mind off things. I'm not sure I added much though! But it was fine. I am better keeping busy.

I've been in work through a mc, and on holiday through one. I'd say depends how many weeks as likely to be heavier bleeding further on. I've also stayed a home too when I felt rubbish and miserable. It depends what you want to do. Maybe could work from home ,(or just watch TV). I wouldn't travel / commute definitely not.

Sorry for your loss OP, it's a horrible situation to find yourself in. I've had two mc (first one I opted for expectant management, second I had an MVA). I was caught out with the first one as I was on the train, it came in quite heavily and quickly. Unless you work very close to home I wouldn't recommend straying too far.

I didn't find it particularly painful (on either occasion) but I found nurofen and heat pads really helped with any discomfort. After the initial mc I had some light bleeding for around 2 wks after but everyone is different.

Does anyone at work know? I'm not one for confiding in people and to be honest, looking back, I think I found it emotionally harder than I admitted.

putthePuffindown · 31/10/2015 20:42

Like you my first I opted for ERPC and for second I decided to just let things happen. Like eurochick I opted to work, but really to try and keep myself distracted (in hindsight i should have taken the time from an emotional perspective). As sleepless says it won't count towards your record, so really it's up to what you think will work best for you.

Flowers sorry for your loss x

With my third mc, I decided to wait for things to happen. I went to work because I couldn't face sitting around at home, and it really helped to take my mind off things. But I was in no physical discomfort at that time, apart from light bleeding.

I told my managers who were very understanding, and I was free to stop and go home at any time, should I feel the need for it. It obviously depends on your job and how you feel, both emotionally and physically! I also wouldn't take on any difficult or really important tasks...

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 02/11/2015 13:46

Nah, fuck it, stay home. You never know how it's going to go, and I hope it's easy for you (had 3 myself, luckily all fairly easy) - but it's still an emotional time and you're best off staying at home where you can be kind to yourself.
