just had a late miscarrige (can't talk about the details yet). This is my second MC, the first was a MMC at 9 weeks.

My late miscarriage is likey to have been an issue with the placenta. Scans showed it was large and bleeding with lakes. We were warned about IUGR, but not loss.

We get pathology results in about 2-3 months. I can't wait that long to TTC. I need to be pregnant now. But what if I have an undiagnosed clotting disorder or similar.

Anyone else been here?

Sorry for all the typos

I'm so sorry. Flowers
A late loss should immediately qualify you for recurrent miscarriage investigations in addition to pathology, which would check for clotting issues etc. The question of whether to wait to Ttc comes up very frequently on the recurrent miscarriage thread and the consensus is always to wait, in case there is a treatable issue that might save a future pregnancy. Use the time to recuperate and heal, consider some counselling, come join the lovely RMC posse for some support.

Thank you. I know I should wait, I'm just so desperate. We've been trying for our first for 3 years. It feels so unfair. My GP is being slow about deciding if he'll send us for recurrent testing. The consultant won't see us til the pathology/post-mortem results are back. I just want something to happen now. Sigh.

I am really sorry for your loss. Flowers
I have also just experienced a second trimester loss (after three early miscarriages) and it is devastating. I also think there were problems with the placenta but am currently undergoing, or about to go for, every possible test I can find out about in order to rule out or rule in reasons, knowing full well that no reason may be found. But it helps me feel I have some control over a really horrible situation.
As baking has said, there are a whole host of tests that should be done. This is quite a useful document: www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/gtg_17.pdf And then there are the other tests that could be done such as this:
www.uhcw.nhs.uk/our-services/a-z-of-services/consultants?cID=341
And, as baking has also mentioned, there's a whole host of other info/support on the recurrent miscarriage thread which I have found really helpful in the last few weeks.
I do hope you are looking after yourself. My thoughts are with you.

PS - hope the links work. I am very new to all of this!

Thank you for the links popandcry. They worked. Very useful. How long did it take you to get recurrent miscarriage testing? I've heard the waiting lists can be long, but I guess it depends on where you are. Can you request to be tested at a specific clinic? Although thinking about it, I'll go anywhere with a short waiting list.

No worries queen - It's nice to share with others what I've found out as a few weeks ago I was pretty clueless!
From what I've gathered on the recurrent miscarriage thread, tests/waiting times vary depending on where you live. After my two early losses last year I had to wait about 6 weeks to get seen at the recurrent miscarriage clinic in Leeds (I'd also had an early loss before having my ds so qualified for the stoopid '3 miscarriages' rule). However, with this second trimester loss, Leeds took a load of bloods while I was still in hospital (plus I agreed to the placenta being tested and a post mortem for my dd) and I've got to get some more done in a couple of weeks. They are then going to see me when all of the results are back.
I also went to see my GP the week after and asked for a referral to Liverpool recurrent miscarriage clinic for a second opinion (not because I wasn't happy with Leeds but because the last year has been so shitty that I want to pursue all possible avenues!) The appointment for that came through really quickly and have now been seen twice by them already. I am going to refer myself to Coventry for the natural killer cell testing once I've had the two cycles post mc they stipulate, so have to wait for nature to take its course for that.
When you are strong enough, go back to your doctor and tell them what you want to happen. Because you have had a second trimester loss, you should automatically qualify for blood tests etc etc as baking said.
Hopefully see you on the recurrent miscarriage thread soon. Not a nice invite, I know, but here we are. x

I also consented to a PM and placenta tests. And I also had LOTS of blood taken by the hospital before they discharged me. Do you know what they test for in those tests?
