Evening Ladies

I have my appointment with a consultant tomorrow at my local nhs hospital after 3 misscarried in 2014.

I had my handbag stolen after work which had my notebook in with all my questions I wanted to ask. I am siting here reading the recurrent miscarriage support thread uncanny seem to find the thread I was one were people suggested questions I should ask.i have done a lot of research butniwits all gone. I can't believe this has happened.

Can anyone help,I'm not going to sleep tonight.

Didn't want to read and run x I would be asking if they could think of any reasons why, what they were going to do to find out. I am sure someone will be along soon.
Good luck tomorrow, I know how scary it is, have been there

Can they do karyotyping, thromboelstogram (TEG). and check for the immune stuff (killer thingys can't remember).
What stage do you mc?
Is that significant?
Uterine scan
Do you hold off ttc while they test?
Aspirin?

busymumm · 02/03/2015 23:14

I also asked about diet (sugar)/thyroid/husband drinking alcohol/whether birth of son caused it/whether I was likely to have high NK cells.
And what treatment they suggest, action plan for next pregnancy etc?

Good luck today onefoot
There is a fairly standard set of blood tests for recurrent miscarriage, plus you should be offered a scan to check uterus/ovaries/cervix. If you haven't had a successful pregnancy you may need a hysterosalpingogram as well. The genetics from your most recent loss is important, it should either give you a reason for the loss, in which case you want to know if this is a random thing (in which case do they think you had 3 random chromosome problems in a row - unlikely imo) or do they need to be checking karyotyping for you and DH. If the genetics are normal push hard for a maternal reason for the losses, they won't check for immune issues/NK cells on the nhs and tend to be dismissive, but if they are not giving you answers this is well worth pursuing. Ask what meds and support you'll be offered in a future pregnancy.

Thankyou for all your help.

I am relieved to know from my last erpc the tissue had no chromosmal abnormality.

My consultant thinks with my blood test results that they have so farthat we should try one more time with aspirin from positive test and an increased dosage of folic acid as I havnt been regular with it because I was unsure if I wanted to try again.

Today I also had another blood test that tells you about the quality of the eggs, which he said they could recommend some medication for which they can tell me were to buy it.

I asked about the nic and I was told I could be referred and recommended Dr Quinby who I have read a lot about on her. I feel a sense of relief.

on a lighter note there was a woman waiting in reception for me with my hand bag,She found my bag in her garden this morning, she had obviously read my ite book as that is were my appointment letter was. I didn't get my purse back but luckily my keys and phone were in my pocket.. I cried and gave her a hug she wouldn't accept money from my husband as a reward and wished us luck. She also informed the police.

How lovely is that .

So glad the appointment went well onefoot and how lovely of that woman to go to such trouble to return your bag Smile
Since the genetics were normal in your shoes (and I have been, 4 MC normal tests, normal baby) I would want to do the NK testing before another pregnancy. If there was no problem with the embryo then it's more likely there is a problem with you. The latest research says aspirin actually increases the incidence of miscarriages when used as a 'just in case' thing and it should only be used for a diagnosed clotting problem, in which case most people would need heparin as well. That information does not seem to have filtered down to regional centres yet but that is what Prof Brosens and Quenby at Coventry and the doctors at St Mary's in London are now advising.
You can self refer to Prof Q, you need to be 2 cycles post MC, not pregnant and 7-10 days post ov.

Hi baking

I think I have read about the aspirin before have you posted it before? This is in my notebook anyway, so I asked about this and he thinks that as my blood is "low" and I don't have any abornmalities in two other tests that aspirin is the route to go.

I don't think they expected me to have questions or notes or refer to my first appointment.drs must hate the internet.
