Histology report from miscarriage - is it usual to get a follow up appt?

Hello,

I wandered how common is it to get a follow up appointment with the hospital regarding histology findings following a first miscarriage?

I received an appointment letter to see the gynae consultant. I rang to ask what the appt was for and the lady said it was to discuss the histology report with me. I can't help but think something might be wrong as don't feel they would call everyone back in to say everything is normal?

The hospital did query a molar pregnancy after i miscarried and sent the 'products' to Charing cross hospital for further testing who confirmed pretty quickly it was not molar, and no further action was necessary. My local hospital rang me a week later to say no further action was required so they were 'discharging' me from the maternity/pregnancy unit. Now a few weeks later I've received this appointment letter. I'm trying so hard to move on with the next chapter of our life and it is pretty unsettling. I've got to wait a few weeks now for the appointment. It's going to be a long wait. I guess I'm grateful they appear to be efficient in wanting to discuss things further but I also feel like 'no news is good news' when it comes to dr's and hospitals!

I wanted to ask you ladies if this is pretty routine or do they only call you back where something needs to be discussed? If anyone has experienced anything similar i'd love for you to share.

Thank-you x

Hi,
Maybe they just want a chat to you and see what help they could offer you, as whether you wanted to try again in the future.
Or they may have found a reason for the miscarriage and wanted to let you know.
I didn't know until the last week or so, a virus called parvo virus, common in young children, can be a cause of miscarriage if the pregnant woman catches it.
I'm 10 weeks and I have parvo virus and had bleeding, so they have prepared me what could happen.
