Anyone had MVA for mmc?

I'm 8+3 but had an early scan on Saturday due to a previous mmc, only to find I was showing 5/6 weeks. I'm therefore booked in for another scan on Friday. I want to get through this sooner rather than later for so many reasons, so have chosen surgical management. They offered erpc under general or mva under local. I've chosen the latter mainly because I thankfully have a 17 month old DS, and just don't want to put myself through the (admittedly tiny) risks that come with a general. But now I'm vaguely panicking. Is it awful? Painful? Traumatic? Would I be better off asleep? They said I could change my mind on the day as long as I don't eat or drink, so any feedback before then would be enormously appreciated....

Hi, I haven't had experience of it but didn't want to leave your post unanswered and I also want to pass on how sorry I am for your loss.
I'm booked in for surgery tomorrow. And was never offered the mva option (I'm in Scotland - may make a difference) but from what you d described, this sounds like the best option for you.
I hope things go smoothly and you have happier times ahead.

Thank you size three. I hope your surgery went ok.

The mva was pretty painful - not the suction but the dilation of the cervix - but took five minutes from start to finish. I was able to walk our straight home with no recovery.

Glad I went for that option in the end. Had a natural mmc at 12 weeks in the past and it was awful, this was much better.

Thanks so much for responding and hope you're doing ok.
