two second tri misscarrisges

On the 30th of August I had my 2nd second tri misscarriage at 20+6 previous miscarriage at 19+1.
This time I was having my cervix measured once at 16 weeks and again at 19 weeks, 4 inches and then 3.5 both times closed..
I woke up at 5am on the 30th with red blood and contractions headed to the maternity ward and was 2cm with bulging membranes on arrival at 7am.. We opted not to have post mortems on either of our boys but had the placenta tested, first miscarriage came back with no abnormalities haven't had the second lot yet.
I am just wondering before going too my follow up consultant appointment if a cervical stitch for our next pregnancy would it be an option for me?

Or anyone been in this situation have you gone on to have a successful pregnancy?

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

I'm sorry I don't have any experience with cervical stitches so can't help there, best bet is to talk to the consultant.

I also suffered a loss just over three weeks ago, if you need to talk I'm just a pm away.

Thank you
I guess I just wanted to have some sort of idea if it would be an option for me before I set my heart on the idea and then they say no.
I know if they only offer monitoring again then we wont be trying for another baby.
I am at the stage where I am desperate for a baby and my whole day is pretty much filled with thinking about babies etc :(

I was moved by your post, sorry for your loss - there is light at the end of this, I lost a little boy at 22 weeks and a girl at 23 weeks, didn't think I would ever carry to term as I'd had three miscarriages all over 16 weeks - I have a DS of 12
My faith carried me through as I was very down for a long time

SlicedAndDiced · 05/09/2014 21:13

Yeah I understand what you mean. I'm having to wait to have a septum taken out before we dare try again. Torn between being desperate for a baby and being terrified of it happening again.

I think they should offer you it.

had a cervical stitch put in on two separate occasions, one at 16 weeks but it might have been too late as I had the bulge as well, with my son the stitch was put in earlier but the cervix fused and so I ended up two weeks overdue and induced with a protracted labour which ended in an emergency c section

MrsChocolateCupcake · 05/09/2014 21:51

Clearcrystal - thank you for your post, I am very sorry to hear about your little boy and girl :( I am pleases to hear that you went on to have a DS.

Sliced- Fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you! I am exactly the same I am so nervous that it will happen again but also wanting a baby so badly.. I have told H that I can only do it again with intervention, I actuakly started to believe it would happen for us this time after getting past 19+1 and a successful 20 week scan :(
I know that we both want to try again asap but want to wait too see if we will be offered a intervention.

I really hope they do offer it to you op.

I know that if they weren't offering to remove my septum there is no way I could try again, even though I desperately want to.

They will only offer it now because I've had three losses in a row, I've had five in total but because wonderfully dd made it the counter reset.

I know what you mean about the scans too, I think once you hit those milestones you start to feel safe. I won't feel safe again during pregnancy.

MrsChocolateCupcake · 06/09/2014 09:38

Oh bless you sorry to hear you have had to do this 5 times :( Thats so heartbreaking.
I don't think I will ever relax during my pregnancy until baby is born abd I hear screams.

I am so sorry for yout losses.
I have a short cervix and have had two premature births due to this. I was put on a trial drug which did work for me as I went into labour at 26 weeks, but it held until 33.
Have a look at the short cervix thread on here as it has some excellent advice on there.

MrsChocolateCupcake · 09/09/2014 09:55

Thank you plenty will take a look soon :)

I am not sure I qualify for it tho my cervix lengths were actually pretty good so I dibt think its because of a short cervix... tbh I have no idea why its happened

They never picked mine up first time round.
I requested a meeting with my consultant before I got pregnant last time. They said I was low risk which I was not.
There is so little research on prem labour its shocking.
Please not give up hope though. Have you looked at the Bliss website?

MrsChocolateCupcake · 10/09/2014 09:34

Oh so sorry they missed it :( I will take a look at the bliss website I knid of want to have as much info as i can for otpt appointment so they dont fob me off lol ty

That is what you need to do. There was the optimum trial which I missed but was put on the drugs anyway.
You have to push them for treatment.

MrsChocolateCupcake · 10/09/2014 18:32

I know a stirch and steroids were mentioned after my first loss but I was just monitored with scans this time..but hopefully they will have a proactive approach and I wont have to push so much!

I think you will be very well looked after. Once they realised something was wrong with my last pregnancy the care I got was excellent.
