What does an elevated rheumatoid factor mean in terms of TTC?

Hi, I've posted this thread in the infertility section but didn't get any responses. I'm hoping that someone from this forum can help.

I had lots of blood tests done for subfertility. All results were fine apart from the rheumatoid factor. My results were slightly elevated and the consultant has requested a repeat test. Does anyone know what an elevated results mean in terms of TTC?

Not sure whether this is relevant but I am a 40 year old, have a DS who is soon to be 7. I've been TTC for the past 4-5 years or so. Had two pregnancies and ended up miscarrying at 6-8 weeks for each pregnancy.

RF is a marker for autoimmune disease, so if it's persistently elevated it might be significant in your losses. I've no experience of RF specifically but have been successfully treated with steroids for elevated NK cells which is a different immune cause of recurrent miscarriage. There are lots of immune modulating drugs available ( steroids, intralipids, hydroxy, IVIG) so if your diagnosis is confirmed there may be something you can do to improve your chances in a subsequent pregnancy. Try posting on the "TTC or pregnant on pred" thread on conception board, lots of expertise there.
