I posted this in the wrong forum so I will post again..

' I don't know if this is the right place to post.. So I'm sorry if it isn't!
I started getting some pains in my stomach on Wednesday night which were really bad, I went to the doc on Thursday morning.. I told him there is a chance I might be pregnant but the pain was quite bad. I had a blood test and the hcg(??) levels were high but went back Friday with continuing pain and small bleeding and after another test was told the hormone levels had dropped. I have now been bleeding heavy for about a day.. But what do I do next? My doctor hasn't been much use.. Do I go for a scan? How do I check there is nothing more seriously wrong??
I should only be just over 4 weeks so I didn't even know I was pregnant '

So my partner wants me to find out what I can do to check it was just unlucky that it happened and not something more serious?? He isn't from here so its 10 times harder doing this on my own!!

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had a m/c in May and have had bleeding in my first and current pregnancy. In my experience my hospital's Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit will not scan anyone who is less than 6 weeks pregnant as it is too early to see anything before this. They will also not do any investigations for cause of m/c until you have had at least two. As this is your first they are not likely to do any further tests. You should do another pg test in a weeks time and contact GP again if it is positive.

The miscarriage association website is very helpful. Maybe someone more clever than me can post the link for you.

Again, I'm very sorry but know that you are not alone. There are many ladies on here who have gone through similar and can be a great support to you. Good luck for the future x

go to the Early Pregnancy Unit at your local hospital and they can do a scan to see what is happening. At my hospital it's a walk in clinic every morning, get there as early as possible as it can be quite a wait. You should be able to find the details on their website.

Sorry, was interrupted earlier. Most early pregnancy units run a daily clinic mon-Fri only, some you can self refer but often you need your GP to fax a referral. At 4-5 weeks it is unlikely they will scan you and if you know hormone levels are dropping then I'm afraid miscarriage looks inevitable, and there will be nothing they can do for you. If a pregnancy test is not negative in 1-2 weeks they will monitor blood HCG to make sure there is no retained material.
Hole up at home, take painkillers if you need to. Use pads to deal with the bleeding, not tampons, as these can increase the risk of infection. If you feel feverish or unwell or if you have very heavy bleeding ( soaking a maxi pad in half an hour) then you need medical attention, but since it's very early you are unlikely to have any complications.
No investigations are offered on the NHS unless you have three consecutive early losses or a late (2nd trimester) loss, and in the majority of cases everything will be fine in a subsequent pregnancy, most miscarriages happen because of a chromosome defect in the embryo that means it can't develop.
It is a very hard thing to go through emotionally and you need to allow yourself to grieve for the loss. Your GP will sign you off work until the bleeding settles and you feel ready to face the world again.
Understandably you will be anxious about trying again, there are lovely supportive threads for TTC after miscarriage and pregnancy after miscarriage on the conception/ pregnancy boards.
Take care, and I'm sorry for your loss.

My mc bleeding lasted about 2 weeks. Mostly it was just like a period, although there were a couple of horrendous days in the beginning.

I wasn't going to bother to see anyone, but did see my GP a few days into the bleeding as I wanted it noted on my records. He just felt my abdomen - no scans, no blood tests.
