Is there increased risk of mc immediately following erpc?

Hi all. Following my mmc and erpc four weeks ago, DH and I have just started ttc again - no idea where my cycle is up to, but we thought we'd have a go just in case I'm ovulating. My understanding was that it's not harmful to ttc again before af returns, but a friend has just told me she was told by the nurse following her erpc two years ago that she should wait one cycle as there was a slightly increased risk of mc (due to the womb lining not always having fully built up again and a risk that the cervix was still slightly open). I've never heard this before and am now panicking a bit that we should have waited until after af. Has anyone heard of this as a risk?

Hi - I haven't heard this - I was told that the reason you are told to wait one cycle is so that the pregnancy can be dated properly - i.e. you have a date to work from. This might be anecdotal but have heard it from a number of people.
Hope all goes well with the ttc, good luck.

I was advised to wait until after 1st period, not particularly for dating purposes, but to ensure that any leftover pregnancy tissue was "lost" with the period.

Hi, I have heard all the above, it's to do with dating and it can slightly increase your chance again for the reasons above, clearing out, thickening of womb, however I think for all the stories I've heard where someone has mc again there's another where their child was conceived with no af inbetween, im in the same situation but we've decisided to carry on and let nature decide, what ever happens now or in 4 months I'd be a nervous wreck anyway and right now the desire to have another is so strong, waiting seems like torture, I think though at the end of the day the risk of mc is is always there for everyone for no reasons sometimes so even if you risk whether it was 3% higher or not there's always a chance it will go wrong and equally a chance it will be fine,

I think it also depends on whether you are waiting on the results of any investigations related to the m/c. I'm waiting on Pathology & blood tests. So don't want to try in case these show something up.

Having said that, I have heard it said that you're very fertile after a loss..... I have many friends who've fallen pregnant quickly after a m/c. Also, I think it can help you to move on.

There's no rights & wrongs - just what's best for you xx
