Sorry to all of you for your sad losses. I suffered an early MC at the end of November and hope that the following is of some help...
Saxony - I started bleeding about 5 days after a BFP and it continued for a week. I was very certain it was a MC as had an immediate loss of pregnancy symptoms (up until then I had been experiencing a lot of symptoms from very early on).
I did another test again 10 days after the bleeding had started and it was negative, which helped to draw a final line under things as the pregnancy symptoms had started to creep back and I was beginning to wonder what was going on.
Next period came 31 days after MC started (normally 28 day cycle) with ovulation symptoms in between, so pretty much back to normal in terms of dates. It does seem that most people get back to a normal cycle quite quickly, having read lots of MN postings on the subject!
I hope you get the answers you need soon - bleeding doesn't necessarily mean a MC but I honestly don't know how soon you can get a conclusive answer, but I imagine that the amount of time it takes for the hormones to normalise varies from person to person.
Pepper - my MC was much earlier than yours, but one thing I did notice is that since then, the symptoms I had during pregnancy have kept on repeating in a cyclical fashion, which has been really disturbing! Just before Xmas, in the days before AF was due, I had belly button pain, nausea, bloating, sore boobs and horrific nightmares etc, all of which I had had when I was pregnant. Finally I was able to put it down to mad hormone stuff when AF arrived (didn't think it was likely I could be pg).
And now AF is due again tomorrow, and the same thing has happened again this month - have had 10 days already of nausea and lots of strange stabbing pains. I have done a couple of tests which were negative, so can only assume my hormones are not quite right, or that things are a bit unsettled for a while. I am going to go to the docs on Monday to try and find out what's going on as it's so hard not knowing why these symptoms come and go all of the time.
Good luck to all of you with recovering x
