Driving myself mad wondering if there is a reason

I had a mc on Tuesday when I was 10wks 5days pregnant. By the time I was scanned on Wednesday I had already passed everything, so they could not determine when the pregnancy stopped growing.

Before getting pregnant I had irregular & short cycles (longest cycle since my dd, who is now 2.3yrs, was 24 days). The gp could never properly check my progesterone as they couldn't pinpoint when I was ovulating and I always ended up getting my period before the test. But they expected I had low progesterone.

So, now I driving myself mad thinking that this is why I lost the pregnancy. Because my progesterone was low. And it will happen again if I get pregnant.

Sorry, I know I'm rambling now, I just need to get this out. I don't even know what I'm asking really.

Oh dear poor you I am sorry for your loss. I think its quite normal to question everything after a mc, wondering if this would be different 'if only' or thinking about the 'what ifs.' Im sorry I can't really help but wish you well. Maybe go back to the GP for some advice?

It may be the reason although you may not have this confirmed. Can you speak to Gp about your worry or look at safe natural ways to raise or mimic progesdteron. I suggest this cos - I noticed on another thread about mimicing oestergen hopeful someone will come along who may be more helpful but I did not want to leave you unanswered

It seems like this is the quietest board.
Is it really so taboo to feel like this, and to ask for advice?
Statistics would have you believe that miscarriage was common.
Where are you all?

I am really sorry for your loss. I also had a miscarriage two weeks ago (I was 7 weeks). I don' t know what caused it-I thought it could be due to a bad cold I had with high temperature. The nurse at the hospital said that miscarriages are very common and the cold is unlikely to have caused it.

I had the same problem with my progesterone when I was trying to get pregnant with my dear DD and the tests always showed low levels because the blood tests(now I know) were taken at the wrong time of the month due to my irregular cycles. I was surprised when I found out I was pregnant because the conception was not within the usual fertile days.

Try not to drive yourself mad over it. Try to speak to a nurse, a midwife or your gp to see if you can find out the reason for the miscarriage. Every pregnancy is different so don't assume the same will happen when you get pregnant again. Stressing about the possibility it might happen won't help with your hormones. I know how you feel but try to draw a line and look after yourself so that your body and mind will be ready when you decide to get pregnant again.

Thanks for taking the time to post everyone, and I'm sorry to those of you who are going through similar situations.

I feel calmer now than when I wrote the post, and I had a chat with gp which has helped, though she only told me what I already knew! It's just such a stressful time. But I think it sometimes helps to let you mind wander in to the most stressful places, in order to let you exhaust those feelings and come out the other side with a clear mind. Hope that makes sense.

little I am no expert but I think low progesterone causes MCs early on and not at 10weeks. You could always ask for your GP to prescribe progesterone for your next pregnancies. The evidence is mixed but my consultant says it does not harm and seems to affect outcomes so prescribes it to everyone who wants it who has had a MC. I know what it feels like to be desperate for answers, hugs.
