Discovered I was 4 weeks pg last night (i.e. am v v v early on). Today, a period like bleed. I suspect it's an unviable pg. I also don't 'feel' madly pg. However, I'd like to know for sure... (how I wish I'd never taken that test! It wld just seem like a late period rather than a mc).
Anyhow: is there any standard advice re. how many weeks one sd leave it before re-taking the test to see if this is a mc or just 'a bleed'?
Also, is there any need for me to have an anti-D jab at this early point (I am Rhesus neg & I recall this was relevant for bleeds later on in pg). Thanks very much for any feedback.

i had an early miscarriage in august, & was advised i didn't need an anti-d before 12 weeks.

i found my result went back to negative very early on (within a few hours of starting bleeding)

i think the only way to be sure is the blood test.

sorry, it's a horrible situation to be in Sad. i hope you're ok.

i think the routine anti-d injection (for being RH -ve) comes quite a bit later, around 28 weeks, but also, you should have an injection if you have any bleeding - so you should go to see your doctor. Good luck.

Glittery - thanks so much for replying. V helpful on the anti-d (was fretting) and also useful to know it didn't take weeks for the test to provide (non false) answers.

I think I'll leave it for a little while longer to retest - since another positive would be awful. However, it really does look like a normal period...

I just wish I hadn't done that test in the first place!! I would simply have thought it a late period. The time is NOT especially right to have a second. However, it's funny how you suddenly project a whole future, isn't it.

OK - redriding - so following on from Glittery (x post from me) - maybe I sd call up the docs then? Anyone else know the anti-D situation?

I had a bleed at 9 weeks and didn't need anti D - went for an EPAC scan so it was properly checked out. Had another bleed a few weeks ago (24 weeks now) and was given the anti D now. However, I would call doctors just to check and reassure yourself - theres nothing to lose by phoning and they may be able to reassure you better than us.

I hope your ok, its a shitty situation, so wishing you lots of luck x

Hello Zumm, I was in the same situation two years ago. I was very anxious to get an anti-D jab as it was the second miscarriage I'd had since my first DS and I was beginning to think that maybe not having had one was the cause of me not being able to stay pregnant.

My GP was rubbish and refused to organise one or offer me an explanation, which made me so upset. So I changed surgeries and the new GP was fab - explained that I really wouldn't need an anti-D jab before 12 weeks because the embryo's blood system would not have been established enough to cross over to mine. (sorry, he was definitely more scientific than that, just can't remember the details).

Just wanted to reassure you that I soon went on to have DS2 and am due to have DS3 any day now.

Would say to see your GP anyway, just for reassurance. Hope you are okay.

Thanks both - and to Violet for sharing your story - this is an enormous help and makes perfect sense. Congratulaations on DS2 and 3 to be :)
You've cheered me up no end.

That makes sense re: the anti d injection - i know i had to have a few of these, but yes, it was later on - didn't know you didn't need them earlier. Good luck zumm!
