Hi there - hope someone might be able to offer their experience of Mr Shehata and his killer cell treatment programme.

I have been diagnosed with raised killer cells of 1.67 and high thyroid antibodies 597. I take 100 mcg levothyroxine daily but I still have the raised thyroid antibodies. I also have osteopaenia in my hip so have been prescribed calcichew D3.

Has anybody else been in this situation and how did you get on? My head is buzzing with all the information Confused. I have previously had a miscarriage in 2004, my DS was born in 2006 and a further miscarriage in July last year. Both miscarriages were at 12 weeks. I had 2 chemical pregnancies in September and November last year also. Just wondered if there were any success stories out there? Thanks for any information anyone might be able to give.

Hi, Sorry for all your losses and I am sorry but I don't personally have any information about this myself, but there is a lady in the "recurrent buns" thread called LOVEMYSLEEP who is being treated by Dr Shehata at the moment for high NK cells and is pregnant. Why don't you leave a message for her in the thread or message her about it as she has alot of good and interesting information about this.

I hope you find out all the information you need.

Take care

Hi - have found you before you've found me!

I have been diagnosed with very high NK cells by Dr.Shehata - my thyroid was fine though, so can't help you with that one, I'm afraid.

Am currently 6 weeks pg, and am taking 40mg prenisolone daily, aswell as aspirin and progesterone. I had an intralipid infusion at 4 wks and will be having another at 8 wks - this coats the NK cells to stop them attcking the pg.

I'm hoping this will work - I've had 4 mc's previously, and I've got to get past 9-10 weeks, as I lost 2 at this point in pg, so maybe that's the real danger point for me. However, I feel like I have given this my best shot - all tests on the NHS came back clear, and there was no other route for me. As soon as I researched NK cells, it just made sense to me that this would be the cause of my mc's.

I got pg the first month of trying too, whicih is not bad for a 39 year old! DH and I have both been trying to be healthy for the past 6 months, and have taken vitamins aswell. We were just trying everything really.

So, I'm not out of the woods yet - I hope to be a success story, but the next few weeks are crucial.

The medication hasn't been a problem either - any symptoms could be pg symptoms, and I start weaning off the steroids at 9 weeks, so you aren't on them for long.

I was reeling when Dr.S gave me my diagnosis, but it did sink in, and it was a relief to have found a possible solution.

If there's anything else you want to ask me, fire away!

That is fantastic. I am so pleased for you. First month of trying is fantastic as well - I am 41 so that is something at the back of my mind. However I had two chemical pregnancies in September and November last year so I am hoping that the steroids will work their magic!

I was worrying about the side effects of the steroids - it just seems to go right "against the grain" taking medication when your pregnant if you know what I mean. I only took one bloody paracetamol all the time I was pregnant with my DS! My first miscarriage was before my DS was born and second last July. So everything considered it makes it even more of a mircale that he's here bless him.

Thank you so much for replying - I'm not on my own and it's nice to know. I'm due to ovulate next wednesday (approx) !!! so I'll keep you posted! I will keep everything crossed for you - make sure you take it as easy as you can and take care xx

I was the same with DD - really funny about taking meds.

There seem to be minimal risks - I guess it's just a leap of faith, and keeping your fingers crossed really. Without the steroids, I don't think I'd stand a chance of getting a baby either.

My DD is a bit of a miracle too - don't know how she managed to get through.

Good luck and keep us posted x

Just to update - starting take the steroids yesterday! Bit nervous about everything but excited and really trying not to build myself up for a big disappointment when I will be peeing on pregnancy sticks all the time no doubt in another week or so!
