Bleeding after medically managed miscarriage?

I had a medically managed miscarriage last Wednesday (I had a MMC). I was spotting slightly on Tuesday due to the first pill - but wasn't losing a large amount of blood.
Today my bleeding has more or less stopped. I was 10 weeks along, but the baby had stopped developing at around 7-8 weeks. I stopped bleeding heavily once I had passed everything on Wednesday.

Is this strange? I would have thought I would have been bleeding heavily as I was carrying the baby to 10 weeks. Does this mean I didn't have a strong lining around the uterus, so the baby didn't attach properly? I had seen the heart beat at 7 weeks.

I am confused about why the bleeding would start to decrease within the first week.
Was anyone else like this? I am worried there is some tissue left inside or my lining wasnt strong to start off with.

Hi,

Im sorry your having to go through this, I had to have a emergency evac after finding out at 14 weeks that I was having a molar pregnancy last july. I didnt bleed at all until two weeks after the op. I think my body went into shock from being pregnant to all of a sudden not being.
Maybe your body needs time to process the change, I cant give you a answer for why? Im still trying to work that one out for myself.

Hope this helps in some way. x

I had medical management for a mmc at 14 weeks last year. Once I started bleeding, which was at the hospital during the second lot of pills, it was really heavy. Once the baby came away it really slowed down over the course of an hour or two. I bled lightly for two weeks, then heavy for a week, and then lightly for another week before it finally tapered off and stopped.

If there's anything you're not too sure on then make an appointment with your GP. The medical management forces everything to come away in one go, which is why it's quite heavy after the second pills and it can get lighter once everything is gone, it's supposed to last for about two weeks afterwards but everyone is different. If it was me and I was worried then I would go get checked out, especially if I was worried about anything left behind.

So sorry for your loss :(

Rather than start a new thread... I have second dose tomorrow morning. Medical management fairls for me
before. Shouldnit work this time? And should it
all be over tomorrow in terms of pain? I want to go to work on monday pm.

Hairylights, I found that the intense cramps stopped as soon as everything was gone and after that it was no worse than a period interns of discomfort - mild cramp now and then which would be managed with paracetamol.

Personally I would play it by ear for going back to work Monday pm as the bleeding can be quite heavy for the first few days, mine levelled off but seemed to increase when I was active.

Take it as it comes and see how you go. I'm sorry you're having to go through this, I wouldn't wish pregnancy loss on anyone. I hope tomorrow goes as well as these sort of things can and that it'll at least be quick :(

Thanks Cbear.

You were right - very heavy cramping until the sac passed (pethedine did wonders!) and mild cramps after that.

I'm not going in this afternoon, feel a bit woozy still, but will go in tomorrow.

Thanks again.
