Crap - bleeding at 10 weeks - feel awful - any advice?

I think I'm 10+3 with DC2.

I did have hyperemesis and I'm on stemetil for that, but in the last week I have definitely started to feel better. I still have a bit of nausea and that awful gagging feeling when I haven't eaten anything, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was. Before I went on the tablets, I couldn't even keep down water, so the way I feel now is a massive improvement.

This morning, as I got out of the shower, I noticed a smear of red blood on the towel. Since then, I have had a brown smaller smear on tissue paper. I have phoned our early pregnancy unit and I have an appointment this afternoon at 3pm.

It doesn't look good, does it?

The other thing that worries me is that I've had yellow discharge (sorry if TMI) all the way through this pregnancy. The midwife said if it wasn't smelly or itchy, I didn't need to worry but if it was, it could be an infection that needed checking. I have been a bit itchy the past few days so I had an appointment with my GP later today - could I have had an infection that might cause a MC?

Thanks for reading. I can't stop crying.

Oh Bicnod I am so pleased :)

SuchStuff - is there no way they can fit you in before Friday? That seems v cruel. But if the bleeding stops, it's probably all fine but it doesn't stop the anxiety does it? Or could you afford a private scan?

LAF77 · 13/12/2010 17:58

Hi bicnod I'm glad to read that your story has had a happy ending. It gives hope to all of us out there, that there can be good news, even when things seem grim.

Hoping that the bleeding and your worries subside soon such stuff

Bicnod · 13/12/2010 18:32

Thanks slug, LadyBiscuit and LAF77 - I am so relieved. Just hoping for a really boring rest of pregnancy now Xmas Smile

SuchStuff - take it easy between now and Friday, it's so draining when you're worrying so much. Whereabouts are you by the way? I know that in some hospitals they have emergency self-referral sit and wait scan sessions - for example King's College Hospital in London has one.

KangarooCaught · 13/12/2010 18:34

Just checking in - so glad Bicnod Smile

Sorry you are having to wait, they like to scan you afair once the bleeding has stopped to give you a more definite answer - but UnpureATDShow is absolutely right, was told to wait for a scan, my cramping increased so went to my GP and got a next morning scan.

Dexterrocks · 14/12/2010 11:49

Bicnod - I am so relieved for you. It is a great moment when they show you that little flashing pixel isn't it.

SuchStuff - Hang in there, we are all rooting for you and your wee baby. I will look forward to good news on Friday. Take it easy until then.

Bicnod · 14/12/2010 19:23

SuchStuff how are you doing today? Been thinking about you and sending sticky vibes to your bean x

Thanks Kangaroo and Dexter Xmas Smile

SuchStuff · 14/12/2010 21:57

Well, in good news, I haven't had any more bleeding today but in possibly not-so-good news, I had terrible lower back ache last night and def don't really feel sick at all anymore.

I am trying desperately not to worry too much, but of course that's hard. Friday seems like such a long time away. Thanks for asking, Bicnod. It's been a long day today!

To answer you LadyBiscuit, I can't afford a private scan unfortunately so it's just a waiting game. Thanks to you and others - am just trying to take it easy and think what will be, will be. Easier said than done, but that's the plan!

Hi SuchStuff. It's great that you haven't had any more bleeding. How is your back now? I don't feel as sick as I did anymore either - that could just be because we're getting closer to the magic 12 weeks.

Friday must seem like forever away - it really is a long time for them to make you wait :(

Thinking of you lots and sending sticky vibes x x

slug · 15/12/2010 12:43

Some hospitals have early pregnancy assesment units which you can walk into. If you are in London, Lewisham works that way.

Mamafoof · 15/12/2010 13:02

Just read this but have my fingers crossed for you suchstuff - hope all goes well for you xx

Bicnod · 16/12/2010 14:08

SuchStuff - just checking in to see how you're doing? What time is your scan tomorrow? Thinking of you and keeping fingers and toes crossed x

Milngavie · 16/12/2010 14:30

I had lots of bleeding during my last pregnancy, it started off at about 8 weeks and continued until 16 weeks. Sometimes a little sometimes gushes, I spent soo much time in hospital being scanned and terrified for my baby.

After one day of almost constant heavy bleeding I had an appointment the following day for a scan. That day I got up and my back was really sore and I feared the worst.

Off to the scan I went and they found my baby straight away and all was well. They did find the cause of the bleeds too and I had to take things very easy for the remainder of my pregnancy but DS was born at 39 weeks by CS and is now 4.

SuchStuff · 16/12/2010 17:50

Hi Bicnod - scan is at 10:30 tomorrow morning. Still no bleeding and not much in the way of backache really either. So, trying to get a balance between being positive and getting my hopes up! Thanks for asking - will obv post again tomorrow.

Again, thanks to all other posters. I don't live near London, but thanks for suggestion. Thanks also for positive stories - they have helped me to feel calm.

Will be sending positive vibes in your direction at 10.30am tomorrow. Hang in there - not long to wait now. Lack of bleeding and cramps sounds positive.

Fingers, toes and everything else crossed x x

LadyBiscuit · 16/12/2010 18:16

Wishing you best of luck - no bleeding and no pain is a good sign :)

Bicnod · 17/12/2010 07:33

Lots of luck today SuchStuff - will be thinking of you x

SuchStuff · 17/12/2010 12:01

Good news! There was a wriggly little baby in there, measuring 11+3 weeks!

The nurse said there was no obvious reason for the bleeding but that when the placenta was attaching it could have caught a blood vessel which would cause a small bleed and possibly some back pain. This was quite hypothetical though and very much just a possibility.

Thanks again for all your support this week. I promise that next time I see a thread like this, I'll offer my support and positive story!

That's fantastic news Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

So so pleased for you SuchStuff. So when's your due date? I'm apparently due around 15th July so I guess we'll be popping around the same time. I haven't ventured onto the July antenatal thread yet as feels a bit scary...

SuchStuff · 17/12/2010 12:36

Thanks!

Well, I thought I was 11 weeks today and due on 8 July, but if I'm 11+3, I guess it's the 5th?!

I did go on the July thread weeks ago, but under a different name. I was feeling so sick then, I didn't post again. However, when I've calmed down a bit (and perhaps after the actual dating week scan which is on the 29th Dec) I guess I'll go there again!

I look forward to seeing you there!!
