Is this ectopic? Anyone any idea?

Hi my first post ever. Just looking for a little advice.
I found out i was pg-2 +tests- almost 2 weeks ago though had been bleeding very slightly-with some abdo pain- for a couple of days before. Anyway went to docs who said may be early miscarriage, may be normal and booked me into EPU for early scan.
Last Friday-5 weeks +4, bleeding changed from brown to red and the pain in my right side got worse.
Long story short ended up in A&E where then sent to gynae ward. Had scan-internal and external next morn and told no sign of baby but some 'endometrial distension'??
Sent home and back two days later for bloods. HCG dropped from 450 to 307 in 2 days. Back on Mon.
Worried because pain in side is still very much there but hospital don't seem too bothered- should i be worried? Could it be ectopic and sorting itself out? Would the pain have got worse if it was ectopic?Confused
Seems so strange cos we only knew we were pg for a week-after ttc for a year- and then its all over. Feel guilty for feeling bad about it when reading some of the threads on here where much sadder stories have happened.
Thanks for any advice x

I'm no expert in this, but didn't want your post to go unanswered any longer.

Hope you are okay - please post to let us know how you're doing.

Bump for the people who know about this sort of thing!

So sorry for you OP. I had an ectopic which it was hard to get anyone to take seriously and it could have been seriou. Luckily I made quite big fuss at A&E and was operated on when it was found it had already started to rupture. have you got pain anywhere else? Ectopic pain can be in shoulder too. Go back to A&E I would say. My family was complete so whilst I was sad about the loss of the baby, I didn't worry that i ahd lost a Fallopian tube too. If you are TTC then you need to keep all your bits intact if possible. (sorry haven't expressed that very well.)
Come back and tell us how you are.

minnie I think if you have pain they should very much be concerned, although not an expert on ectopic I think they look for a hardness to the stomache area and yes the shoulder pain as annie mentioned is a red light.
Maybe as the hcg levels are falling they have dismissed eptopic.

mc does does cause various shades of pain and discomfort. My early mcs felt simular to really bad period pains and nasty throbs.

Is the epu seeing you again next week, it maybe worth ringing them.

Lastly don't ever feel guilty for feeling as you do. Once inside the medical machine it is easy to feel just a number and insignificant at x weeks but to you and your partner your lo meant the begining of so much.
Be a little prepared for feeling like you are on a hormonal rollercoaster and go really gently on yourself. Ladies on this board are fab.
Thinking of you.

I had ectopic pregnancy first time round and there was no bleeding only a lot of pain. HCG levels were monitored for a week and were continuing to go up so eventually they did operate.
I would say that the HCG levels going down means it is not ectopic but it sounds as if they haven't explained very well what they think is going on. Is there a number to ring if you have any questions - I would have expected a follow up appt at some stage as well.

Hi
Been back to the EPU for more blood tests over last 2 weeks. HCG levels have fallen to 86 so no ectopic thank goodness. One more blood test needed and then should be back to normal. No explanation for the pains but they've gone and no bleeding so seems to be all on the right track again.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to give advice xx
