I had an internal scan 3 days after my MC, which checked my tubes and ovaries, my menstrual pains aren't usually like this.. Confused

hi there, im a little further along than you are, 5 weeks since my mmc. I also had a few pains, mine were mainly on the left hand side. Went to docs to ensure it wasnt an infection, mine was mainly ibs pains.
Also he did say it could be my body trying to regulate its hormones again.
Mine has subsided now, but i still feel quite raw.
But kind of glad its all normal, im also still waiting on my first period since the miscarriage so some of the pains i feel maybe linked.
I would defo get to your gp and get yourself checked if you havent already. Sorry for your loss. X

Hi,
thanks for posting I feel a little bit better, it was just the fear that something else might be going wrong :(
It has only started this afternoon, if it is still happening through the night I will try and see a doc tomorrow, if I can get an appointment.

I did have a negative pregnancy test so I guess that rules out if anything has been left behind? Confused

i did that too, i also had an all clear scan after my natural mmc. Just wanted to rule an infection or eptopic out.
He said any pain around the pelvic bone would suggest a uterus problem....
Mine was around my bowel area and felt quite deep stabbing pains, so was very worried.
He reassured me and i do feel alot better since, that was two weeks ago now, so probably the same time as where your at now.
Theres no harm in getting it checked i say, i told the nurse i was worried it may be an infection she got me in as an emergency appointment so i didnt have to wait.
Hope you feel better soon, i think any pains before and after are worrying especially if youve never been through it before, as i hadnt it was all very daughting..

Hi, I will have a bath, and see if that helps. My uterus had all shrunk down nicely and everything looked good in the scan, which I had as they were not sure if my MC was complete. Mine was also natural if that makes a difference?
On the infection front I haven't had any unusual discharge or anything to suggest it.
I hope it is a hormonal thing, that makes sense to me as I haven't had anything weird apart from this, and I have had bit of water retention, so know my body is up to something..

Forgot to say sorry for your loss, it is awful. I thought I was feeling better until it was 21st Oct as that was supposed to be my 12 weeks scan and I was feeling miserable again!

I suppose it is all just an ongoing thing, thanks for talking to me :)

not sure if natural or the op is harder tbh. My personal experience was horrible, mini labour. I was 13 weeks when i found out, my scan was late as the unit was extreamly busy, believe it or not i only started to bleed once i got to 12 weeks so i though all was ok, and i was also growing and experiencing some preg symptoms. Had a scan at 13 weeks due to bleed i then found out the baby had died at 8 weeks.
My uterus is still going down and i also have some water etention so got a little belly which isnt helping things....
5 weeks on, im still finding hard, and am still grieving what could of been!!
Every day its getting easier, today was hard as i found my old pregnancy test, which was difficult..
I decided to put it in a small memory box.
Hope your feeling better and feeling better about your aches and pains. X

Hello,

Sorry for your losses both of you, its a rotton thing to go through.

I just wanted to say to purplebuns that you must go and get checked asap. It doesnt matter how small the pain is or even if it has disappeared, its vital that you talk to a doctor who will assess whether you are at risk of infection. If you are, a simple course of antibiotics will clear it up but if you have an untreated infection this could seriously put your future fertility at risk (scar tissue can form in your uterus and fallopian tubes) and in very rare cases uterine infections are fatal.

Scans dont always pick up everything, I had two scans and was given the "all clear" and then it was discovered later that I had retained tissues. I really hope this isnt the case for you, and that you are able to recover quickly, but it is well worth going and getting some aftercare to check that all is going as it should do.

take care xxx

Hi purplebuns, MA's right, you should deffo speak to your GP about any weird pains BUT I had the same kinda thing intermittently after my ERPC in June (on the right hand side too) ? The last time I had it, my first period started the next day, so it must have been my body going back to normal.

Try not to worry ? I'm sure your GP can set your mind at rest by giving you a check-up :) Take care xx

Hi,
I will make an appointment tomorrow if things persist, I can't go today as I am babysitting my sister this morning and I have work this afternoon. Thanks for the advice/kick up the backside :)

My normal cycle is 26 days so if this was going to be a normal period I would be due on tomorrow.
Also, we went for a longish walk (3miles) yesterday which could have contributed, as I haven't done this since MC. I am feeling more comfortable today but then I haven't been very active yet!

Rach I was 9+4 and had a spontaneous miscarriage, I it might have been MMC but I had felt my uterus above my pelvic bone in the week before, so can't have been long since my poor LO had died, that I passed them. I had a mini labour as well! OUCH!

Me and Dh have given our baby a name and I think this has helped us heal as this baby was so precious, and so wanted and giving them an identity has really helped. (Especially when they are just 'products' FFS otherwise!!)

I hope you feel better soon (and me!) :)

Hi Purplebuns it may be ovulation pain, I had this more noticably after a mmc in Feb this year and at about the same time.

nevercansaygoodbye · 25/10/2010 22:36

Hi - I'd a 'natural' mc (no erpc) about ten days ago. I went back to hospital after a week as I felt I was in more pain than I should be. It was so reassuring and I would recommend it if you are in doubt- the doc said the pain was the uterus expelling the final 'products' and everything settling back to non-pregnant positions.. I had a scanthat showed my uterus was almost clear and was also prescribed antibiotics - amoxicillin and metronidazole - to take just in case infection developed. I have now stopped bleeding, know from that and the scan that I must have passed almost everything and due to the antibiotics hope there is little chance of infection now.

Purplebuns · 26/10/2010 11:10

Hi, thank you, I am absolutely fine feeling and I haven't been to the docs as the pain is gone.
The problem for me is that I am highly allergic to Penicillin and BF so antibiotics aren't an easy thing for me.
I think like Fannybaws that is was possibly a ovulation pain or something to do with my hormones or the walk I did. Thanks so much for sharing though :)
