First cycle post MC - no AF but no BFP either...

I was wondering if anyone has got any advice on this:

The pregnancy test after my miscarriage became negative 31 days ago. For the last couple of days I've been having aching that felt like period pain was about to start, and then yesterday I had brown spotting in the morning. Since then, no more spotting and AF hasn't started either, POAS this morning and BFN. What is going on??

So sorry about the mc.

Could you have been ovulating? (I can get quite severe ovulation pains and occasionaly spotting).

However, pain and ongoing bleeding might warrant a trip to the gp, just to check there isn't any infection?

And maybe you should retest in a few days.

Depending on when your mc was it could be your cycle getting back on track.

i had a 7 week gap from mc to period and then it only lasted 2 days, then the same the next month and after that i had a heavy 4 days. Doc says body was just adjusting. they were fine after that.

Have you seen this before?

www.pregnancyloss.info/waitingforaf.htm

According to this site you have passed the magic 20 period of no bleeding, so you are unlikely to be suffering any miscarriage complications, just seems like your body working up towards trying to get its rhythm back.

Have you been ttc? Might also be worth a retest in 10 days....

I am still waiting for my AF. Its agonising.

After a previous ERPC I didnt get it for 6 months and used progesterone to kick start things, this time my doctor is recommending I go on the pill for a couple of months to help me "get regular". I am feeling rebellious though - who wants to go on the pill when you are dying to get pregnant again?

Thanks so much ladies. Sorry, TMI alert but although I still only have spotting in my pants, when I go to the loo there is quite a lot of red blood in the bowl and when I wipe so going from MummyAbroad's v. helpful link I think this is a good thing. I'm seeing a consultant tomorrow (although I've only had one MC, I have had such conflicting and rubbish advice from the NHS I thought it was worth a £100 punt to see whether someone can actually tell me anything) so will check then but fingers crossed it's a good sign. Thanks again to everyone who replied - I really appreciate it

mummyabroad sorry to hear your AF is giving you hassle too. I can imagine your frustration at being recommended the pill, are there any other options? Are there any.complementary therapy options you could maybe try at the same time?

Hi Pink,

Actually I went to see my gynecologist yesterday who did a scan and told me I was ovulating!

I am on a bit of a high, it has been such a long time since I had any good news.

I did interrogate him quite a lot about WHY he was recommending the pill and there doesnt seem to be a really good reason - given my history we both suspected that I might not get my AF and this would save us waiting months, THEN trying something. I think this is also pretty standard advice over here (Costa Rica), but after reading on MN about the BBC article stating that UK doctors dont recommend waiting "for your body to get back to normal" anymore, I think I will give the pill a miss, at least for a couple of weeks.

If you think you have had conflicting advice from the NHS you should try things over here! I have seen 4 different "specialists" so far and they have all told me different things! Please share anything you learn from your consultant! I hope he/she can help you.

I bought myself some red clover capsules a while ago, you have just reminded me to dig them out of the cupboard.

By the way, when I didnt get my period last time, it turned out to be a thyroid problem, can your consultant do a blood test for you to check yours is OK? They might also feel your neck to see if the thyroid gland is swollen.

good luck xxx
