Hi Welshmummy, I don't have any advice about your post but didn't want it to go unanswered. I think someone on another thread I'm on has mentioned this before so I'll ask for you.

I saw on the other thread about your discharge and waiting for your scan. The waiting for scans is absolutely horrendous - hope you are coping alright and get some positive news. If I find anything about about diabetes I'll post back

thanks for commenting, i have put a few threads on to try and get as many responses as possible which i think is understandable.

had a lot of pinky discharge this morning so rung doctor and he saw me 20 mins later, been booked for a scan first thing in morning now....so fingers crossed baby is doing well and this pinky discharge is nothing serious and can be managed. i heard it natural but still its scared me with my history xx

Hi Welshmummy I have type 1 and have had 1 miscarriage (following successful birth of ds).

I was told that one of the risks of uncontrolled blood sugars in early pg is a higher rate of mc but I can't remember what it is based on. Mine was very well controlled though.

I sincerely hope this won't be another one for you but if it is have a word with your consultant about getting referred. The hospital I attend, St Mary's, has Lesley Regan who runs the recurrent miscarriage unit and I was told that although the normal number of miscarriages for referral is 3 for diabetics they would do it on 2 without hesitation. In the end I got referred to the fertility clinic after 11 months of trying (still trying at 15 sadly) also on grounds of diabetes and my consultant said that he'd made a mistake and could have referred me after 6 months.

Having diabetes means you should get moved up more quickly in the nhs pile (it always has for me) so use it for what it's worth. I'm happy to give advice on any part of mc and pg with diabetes.

I haven't seen your thread on waiting for a scan but I was told by UCH where I had the mc (not a great experience in any way) that they would automatically give me an early scan after a miscarriage around 7-8 weeks. St Mary's now I'm under their fertility part have also offered the same and when I was pg and complained of pains at 6 weeks they sent me for a scan.

If the hospital is being difficult it may be worth investigating other options - if there are any.

thanks tigger 15...i've been told i can have a scan 2moz morning after i contacted the doctor again 2day. i was told that with diabetes u can have an early/liability scan when i was living in wales but nothing was done when i went through my last miscarriage (apparantly you dont have pregnancy issues over xmas) but im all new to the hospitals where im currently living so im having to rely on friends and boyfriends family for information regarding hospital quality.

so 2moz is D day...find out how my litte sprogling is doing (hopefuly everything will be ok)

welshmummy if you put a thread on pregnancy and childbirth with various hospital names/areas and requests for experience with diabetes and pregnancy you should get a response. This site is great for that sort of feedback.

Ah good, Tigger you found the thread. I knew I had a memory lurking about that someone on our TTC thread had diabetes.

WelshMummy hope all goes well today, everything crossed for you x

welshmummy2B · 06/08/2010 15:33

thanks for the support both...

had scan done, they say im only 5 weeks instead of 7 (dont know if that coz baby stopped growing or if i simply ovulated late) back in 2 weeks time for another scan to find out. also doctor told me i have 2 cysts :( now have to keep a eye on them.

will let you know of any changes and how next scan goes xx

That doesn't really help put your mind at rest then. Is there a chance your dates can be out?

Hope you cope through these next few weeks x

welshmummy2B · 07/08/2010 13:49

there is a poss my dates could be out but im trying not to hope for anything great as this happened with my first miscarriage, my cycles are usually 28-30 days appart but my second pregnancy dates didnt match to my dates they where out by about 2 weeks(baby heart found but miscarried a few days after scan)...so im no better off with this information other than knowing i have the cysts which the doctor said he will monitor.

I hope the next scan gives better news.

Moofold · 11/08/2010 19:28

Hi Welshmummy, just a note to say have been thinking about you. Hope things are ok x

welshmummy2B · 20/08/2010 13:28

thanks for your thoughts...had an eventful 2 weeks must admit, my normal pregnancy signs decided to become non-existant (sore breast, extreme tiredness)which made me think that i lost the baby also discharge had become irregular and slightly darker/thicker every so often. Although i had noticed i've become slighly constipated. Prepared myself for the worst for this scan BUT GOOD NEWS, FOUND BABY'S HEART BEAT AND BABY GROWING WELL. fingers crossed it is third time lucky and baby will continue to develop :)

thanks again for being there and for your thought, means a lot xxxxx
