Medical Miscarriage tomorrow. What should I take to hospital?

I was diagnosed at 12 weeks as having a mmc, baby died at about 9 weeks. I tried natural miscarriage, but 3wks later nothing, so am going down the drugs route, as I think my body needs a kick!

I have been told I will be in hospital for most of the day tomorrow so am taking book, ipod etc, just wondered if anyone out there had any hints as to what else may be useful (I have a pack of maternity pads left over from ds already in the bag!)

Thanks

Hi Umbongo
Really sorry to hear that you are having to go through this.
I had a mmc at 17 weeks and then one at 12 weeks. Both times I had them medically managed.
Both times I had the meds about 9am and passed the baby about 11.30am. You will probably have lots of waiting and lying in bed, so books and magazines are a good idea, and are also a bit of a distraction.
You should take 2 or 3 nightshirts, as you will prob need a fresh one to change into. Spare knickers too. I was also glad of juice and snacks - a huge bag of giant chocolate buttons helped.
I really hope that things are gentle on you tomorrow.
Take care. xxx

Forgot to say, the maternity pads are a must, and make sure you have some normal ones at home for the next few days. x

Thank you, have been down to the co-op this evening for extra normal ones (came back with loads of sweeties and chocolate too by accident!) I also forgot that I would be in bed hanging about so nearly didn't take any nightshirts. Oops.

Sorry you have had to do this twice, not fun is it.

so sorry about this - agree books and distraction are good. Ipod (podcasts/audio books good ) or any kinds of puzzle type thigns (if your mind is that way inclined - sudoku, crosswords etc - I found that good) . And the junkier the better (I found rereading jilly cooper good) .

facewipes/any spray that freshens you up good as I always find hospitals hideously hot.

Thank you Poppy, I have just learnt how to download my first ever podcasts and get them onto my ipod! Cor!

UmBongo, sorry to hear of your MC, I've been through this twice so know how crap it is.

Both times I've taken in stuff to do a manicure. Made me feel much better just having nicer nails at the end of the day and was a bit of a distraction for me.

Apart from that its the usual, cordial or juice, pen, wipes, maternity pads, sweets, newspaper, make up and change.

Spare socks

Hope all goes as well as it can

Thank you all. Just got back. I think I got away with it quite lightly! Not too bad on the pain front and the sac came away quite quickly, mind you, I started bleeding a bit at about 5.30 this morning so by 10.30, 2 hours after I took the drugs, it came out in one. Sorry if tmi, but I don't think much is tmi on mn!!!!

Thank you all for your help and thoughts.

im so sorry to hear that you had to have a MM i had this done for my first miscarriage, but i had a NM the second time round i was so ill i couldnt move for pain and didnt get out of bed for over a week and i'll be honest id rather an MM as the meds made it happened a lot quicker.

just remember to rest as much as ur able to and do things (read, puzzles etc) that will distract you.

my heart goes to you, take care xxx
