I am interested in finding out more about this school. We hope to be moving to Hertfordshire soon. My little girl is autistic (high functioning) and a bright girl but obviously very sensitive. Is this a nurturing school? Would they welcome a child with additional needs? I would be very grateful to hear of any girls schools that welcome autistic children. Thank you

My daughter currently attends St Francis. She's not autistic but has a small amount of additional needs - like your daughter she is bright and very sensitive. It's a wonderful school, very kind teachers and very nurturing, but also achieves very well academically. They have a lovely lady who deals with those children who need some additional support.
I would also recommend Sherrardswood near Welwyn - my son attends this school and I know they have some children with autism. Hope this helps!

Thank you! I'm looking for single sex as my daughter is so sensitive that she doesn't cope well with boisterous boys. Do you know if they have autistic children at st Francis or many with Sen? Is the senco full time?

I think the SENCO is there 3 days per week. They also have a couple of other teachers who help with specific interventions for children who need them (for example my daughter needed some specific help with a particular type of work and had half an hour with a support assistant once a week for a term. Others have more regular help).
I'm not sure about autistic children at St Francis but I'm sure the school would be able to advise. I know a few have extra time in exams due to e.g. dyslexia, processing difficulties etc.
