Hi everyone,

I need some advice please.

I'm 55 years old.
I do reformer pilates twice a week, weights once a week and walk for 30mins twice a week.

Drink alcohol twice a week, eat relatively healthy. Have just started HRT Evorel 50, its my second week.

Instead of feeling light and energetic I have put on 3kilos and am absolutely knackered. I have a nap for an hour or two a day, in bed at 9pm. And I'm craving carbs. What am I doing wrong?

Please be kind 🙏 as I'm crying a lot too.

I gained a stone in three weeks after starting HRT last summer. My boobs and tummy were absolutely gigantic. I’m quite pear shaped and had never had boobs or a belly before so it was quite the shock! I don’t gain weight easily (through the two years of WFH Covid I put on 3lb) so it was 100% the HRT. It did settle after a few months so I assume it was fluid retention and my body adjusting.

What kind of HRT were you on?

I found a research paper just now which says that oral estrogen can cause weight gain as it changes how the liver processes food.

It's a US paper and the URL is so long I couldn't copy and paste, but it's out there.

Yes I'm on oral hrt. That's interesting, thank you.

There's out and out denial that hrt causes weight gain because "studies" say so, but there are so many types of hrt and we all know studies are often very small or flawed or indeed designed with a bias to prove whatever they set out to prove.
