Hello,
Recently been told that I am premenopausal, and suffering low energy, but fluid rentention and bloating are awful.
Has anyone had any luck with HRT to deal with these symptoms. I found natural progesterone was good for fluid retention and concentration, however had acne like never before, which was awful.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated...

Have you cleaned up your diet?
Have you tried eating only whole foods, exercising a lot and cutting down on alcohol and caffeine?

I had no menopausal symptoms at all until last period (last period at 53.5)and my specialist said it was probably due to lifestyle- I do make a big effort to eat well etc and exercise, and because of an intolerance can't eat wheat or dairy.

I did start HRT then a smy sleep patterns went crazy and I had flushes very hour.

I wouldn't want to say rule out HRT, but there is alot you can do first to see if it helps.

Well I do try very hard, I eat well and exercise. So yes I too have cleaned up my act, as I realise the importance of not drinking to excess or eating rubbish.
I think I am possibly stressed due being out of work and job seeking. One can only try one's best, i.e. more exercise, cutting out the caffine the list goes on. I cycle evrywhere, I don't have a sedentary life style!

I confess that I eat bread, but not tons of the stuff and ensure that I eat nourishing brown bread. I do take your point about wheat, I do worry about getting a good intake of b vitamins though. Perhaps this is what I need to do, cut out wheat entirely.

I'll give it a go!

I don't eat wheat as intolerant to it- you can get B vits from other foods or swallow a supplement.

I have also found that cutting out wheaty stuff helps the 'bloatation'. I hardly eat bread at all now and don't chow down on cereals so much. I go more for the veggy stuff (and meat) I find meat appealing now more than I ever did.

I'm 53 now and I can say I'm a survivor of the menopause. I whole heartedly endorse what has been said about cleaning up your act food wise. I did a 28 day detox in fact and it did me a lot of good. After that I continued on low caffeine intake choosing naturally caffeine free rooibos tea as a good alternative. I actually prefer it now. I also continue to keep wheat to a minimum. Breakfasts can be the most difficult for this. however there are soem great oat based cereals on the market. Definitely eating well did help me and continues to help me. I also worked my way through a selection of natural supplements at different stages from this list at GoodnessDirect.

The Black Cohosh was the most effective for hot flushes for me, and the osteocare a general nutrition for our position which I feel really secure with.
