Apparently this medication is licensed for only 6 months.
Has anyone been on it longer?
TIA

Zoladex is used for a variety of things. It is licensed for 6 months but sometimes you may get it longer. I think i had it for 8 months along with HRT so i didnt go through menopause. HTH

Thankyou. I have been on it for 12 months for endometriosis and pms with tibolone hrt.
The consultant took me by surprise, telling me that it was a short term drug and that the long term solution was hysterectomy.
Apparently it is due to cost in this instance.

I had it for endometriosis aswell. Cant remember the HRTas this was about 5/6 years ago. I was told it was due to cost and long term effects of the drug, my consultant was a bit of a prat though.
I was diagnosed at 18 im now just short of 24 had 8 months of zoladex and HRT. Then had my ds (which i was told would never happen) I did find that depo provera eased my symptoms majorly and the mini pill micronor helped too had some discomfort on it but nothing like i have done. I know they may not work for everyone but might be worth looking into. My gp told me to avoid combined pills as oestrogen aggrivates it

Thanks shelleylou, congrats on your ds

Blimey that's shite having it so young. I'm 38 now but still not ready for a hysterectomy.
Consultant said that the long term side effects for zoladex is mainly thinning of the bones... although this is counterbalanced by the hrt.
The main reason is the cost.
I have tried pills over the years with no luck.

Guess i'll just have to get my head around a hysterectomy, he said i would have to live without ,edication otherwise

Thanks for listening shelleylou and good luck with your symptoms

Depo provera is the contraceptive injection i personally had the most luck with that. There must be some medication you can use which is more cost effective for them. Even with a hysterectomy they will still prescirbe you with HRT so will still have medication. Have a chat with your GP i know i had more luck with mine than the consultant or even ask for a 2nd and 3rd opinion if your not happy. It's trial and error with a lot of the pills i have no idea how many i was given that didnt work. I wish you all the best

Thanks Shelleylou, all the best to you too
