Can anyone recommend a deodorant that actually works?

...or will I have to change umpteen times a day and just not raise my arms in between changes?

I'm now at an age where sweating has become an issue and have tried various deodorants, both roll ons and sprays, but nothing seems to be working.

Mitchum, it lasts for 24 hours.
My Mom got us on to it as she had the same problem, now DH and I use it.

another vote for mitchum - although I've moved on to non-aluminium ones now which aren't as effective but I prefer

mitchim powder fresh smells gorgeous too

Perspirex, don't know whats in it, dont know if it's good for you, but it works.

Dibsie - I'm assuming you mean anti-perspirant as opposed to just deodorant? Mitchum doesn't work for me - try one of the heavy duty ones that you apply at night, Driclor is the I'm using at the moment. It does help although isn't completely sweat-proof. Do apply it to dry underarms, the absolute last thing you do before getting into bed. If there's any dampness there it's sore and itchy.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 29/04/2009 10:31

Yes Perspirex is similar - I tend to swap around as they seem more effective that way.

notsoteenagemum · 29/04/2009 10:41

Is Driclor any cheaper Saggar?

Dibsie · 29/04/2009 11:08

I did mean anti-perspirant Saggar. Obviously the sudden heatwave here has addled my brain - or maybe that's to do with my age as well!

Have just looked on boots.com and driclor is cheaper than perspirex by a pound or so.

Thanks Dibsie, lucky you having a heatwave, I'm just getting ready to go on a rainy mini-beast hunt.

Yes, agree with Driclor, when I was younger I used to sweat excessively and Mitchum wasn't heavy duty enough.

You apply Driclor at night and wash it off in the morning, and it does work really well. One thing though, I found that it was rather uncomfortable for about an hour after I applied it, sort of itchy feeling. But it wears off.

I used it on my feet as well.

The itchiness can be counteracted by drinking a couple of glasses of wine beforehand
