Spotting for 2 weeks after period

I have posted it in general health but thought it might be better here.

I have been spotting for 2 weeks after my period. I am 42 and my partner thought it might be the menopause (he told me on my 42nd birthday! ). Has anyone experienced this and could it be the start of the menopause?

Thanks

Hi Chuckeyegg

im 35 and going through the same thing. my periods are normally every 21 or 28 days. this time my period lasted the normal 3 days but i have been spotting ever since..not brown but pink and sometimes a darker red, no clots. and more blood when i pee. I have been going to a chiroprator for the last 2 weeks and asked him if that could have anything to do with it (lower back alingment) he said he never heard of those symtoms. Just wondering if anyone eles experienceing the same? I am going to my doctor in 3 days but totaly freaked out right now

Dear Countrygrl

I made a doctors appointment but spotting ceased as soon as I did that. What you are experiencing sounds very similar to me let me know how you get on.

Best Wishes.

You mean you are bleeding almost for 3 weeks?

it is probably a hormonal imbalance, but you need to go to the drs and get it checked out- especially if it coincides with post-sex, or you are overdue for a smear etc.

Bleeding between periods can be down to all sorts of things including cervical and uterine polyps, fibroids, and other things as well as hormones.

Unfortunately you won't find the answer by guessing- you need to be examined and have blood tests.
