Bleeding on Slynd

Im postmenopausal and been on various HRT for almost 10 years.

I was prescribed Slynd as part of my HRT in March. I'm progesterone intolerant and its been literally life changing.

I'm on 2mg Elleste Solo and Testogel.

I was fine for 3 months and then started spotting.
Yesterday, I started to bleed, like a normal period. Its still the same today.

I haven't missed any Pills and take it continously.

In my head, I was waiting til September before doing anything about the spotting (giving it the 6 months) but now I'm worried. Plus having stomach cramps and bleeding isn't pleasant.

Is this a common side effect of Slynd?

Guidance is any new hrt that is continuous needs 6 months and any bleeding after this should be discussed.

How long have you been post meno? Any chance it's a late period? If you started hrt young and in peri you'd not know when your last natural period was.

@JinglingSpringbellsthanks for replying, I really hoped you would answer my post as you always give really sensible and informed advice.

My periods stopped at 40.
I started HRT at 42 and I'm 53 in a few weeks.

I will wait until the end of September to see a GP. I struggled to work out if i was being sensible delaying seeing a GP.

I really dont want to stop the Slynd but the idea of TVS and possibly a hysterscopy frightens the life out of me after previous experiences.

Thanks again.

It might help to know that on medical websites on fertility, women having an early menopause (you!) are advised that in some cases periods can resume. (This is especially relevant re. contracepetion OR if women still want to be pregnant.)

The gap between no periods and starting again can be as much as 2 years (which is why birth control for 2 years minimum is suggested for women under 50, if their periods stop.)

It's not impossible that your periods started again without you knowing.

One thing you might want to consider-and NHS may not offer- is a scan with a consultant who is a menopause/ fertility expert. They can look for follicles in your ovaries and see if any are there and active.

My relationship broke down about 8 years ago and l have been single ever since so periods aren't a worry to me.

Its all very annoying to be honest!

Thanks again.
