Are these signs of early perimenopause?

I’m 33 with 2 kids.
my mum previously told me that her and my nan both started early menopause, but I don’t know how early.
my periods have always been really heavy for 3 days then day 4 quite light. It’s so heavy that I leak through tampons a lot so wear a pad aswell.
the past 3 months I’ve noticed my periods are very light and only last about 3 days. They’re that light that I’m able to use Regular tampons on each of the days.
im also tired ALL THE TIME! I also have very little libido, but that could be linked to me being so tired.

anybody else had similar?

It seems very early but your GP can check with a blood test so I would get it checked out.

See your GP and get some blood tests done and go from there. It’s likely that you have low iron if you feel tired all the time, but having young children can cause this and low libido etc.

I really don’t like it on MN how many posters think they are a world authority on perimenopause and like to tell people that they can blame any/all symptoms on this when there can be many reasons for various symptoms. The danger with listening to unqualified people on here is that in some cases serious conditions can be missed and diagnosed too late “because it’s just peri starting.”

I don't think you'll find many people who jump to telling a 33 year old that she's likely peri menopausal.

Early menopause is hereditary in many cases @Mummy2823
Premature menopause (before 30) is the same- often hereditary.

A change in cycles is often the first sign.

See your GP first.
Diagnosing early menopause can be difficult. They will need to do blood tests- between day 2 and 5 of your cycle OVER TWO MONTHS - and see if that shows anything. They can also do a blood test for AMH ( to judge the number of follicles left in your ovaries.)

Often these tests are not 100% accurate.

At that point you should ask to see a consultant gynaecologist who can do more detailed tests.

On the NHS this will take time. If you can afford it, or have private health insurance, you might want to think about a private appt.

@DreamerinmeAll the posts so far advise seeing a GP for blood tests.

It's unusually early but certainly a possibility, especially with the family history. But as PP say, there are several other possibilities that need to be checked. With normally very heavy periods I'd recommend getting your iron and ferritin checked anyway, even if tiredness were your only symptom, and B12 and thyroid are worth a look too.
