3 periods in a month

I'm 50. My periods have got massively irregular, I had months without one and I thought I might be in menopause, but suddenly I've had 3 periods in the space of one month!! Is this normal? Should I seek medical advice? I was so hoping they were gone 😅

Not sure if its normal as only 38, but might be worth seeking medical advise even if its just for peace of mind

My periods did this over December 24 and January 25 after not having one for several months. Then they disappeared until April, then another in August. Now literally counting the days until a year without one....

Yes, it's normal.

The only way to stop this is to consider HRT which should settle it into a monthly cycle, or the Mirena coil

A few years ago I missed my period for a couple of months, then when it came it was heavy, crampy and lasted 59 days. I thought to myself, "This is how it ends...." This happened a few times. Miss a couple months then when it came it would last longer. Only with each time it was a little shorter than the previous.

That is not normal.
Your GP would have given you drugs to stop the bleeding.
It could cause anaemia to bleed that long.

No, it is not normal for most. But when 2-3 periods are missed in a row it can be that this happens due to all that extra time building the lining of the uterus. I made sure to keep my iron up. But also, I'm nit always trusting of these medications. I'm saying they are all bad or dangerous, just that I use my judgement as to whether I need it. Some doctors just hand out meds with very little discretion around here. At any rate, this has not happened again thankfully. LOL
